Floor was recovering from the flu during this concert so she wasn't 100%. In one of her interviews she talked about it lingering during these Latin American performances. She came down with it in Bogota, Columbia, completely losing her voice that morning, yet still performing later in the day. Ya, stamina. We can hear the raspiness in her speaking voice during this concert as the symptoms hung around.

"Devil & Deep Dark Ocean" was song #16 of the setlist and Floor's 14th song, because they added two instrumentals before. Watch their last song of the evening, "Ghost Love Score", and listen how she needed to improvise that last note, as it was beyond her possibilties that evening. P.S. I am always wondering, how good Floor sounds, even with a sore throat.

This was song number 17 out of 21 during their decades tour which was done to celebrate their 20th anniversary as a band (even though it had technically been 22) and, in my opinion, to properly close any doubts on wether she would ever leave the band. They played songs they hadn't played anywhere from 5 to 20 years, so at least half of the show during the tour was Floor performing songs she had never sang before. I think it's one of her best performances, even though she had been sick like a week prior to that performance

Original male vocalist for this is Tapio Wilska and real old stuff when Nightwish was a baby band on small stage. Nightwish (& Tarja Turunen) - Devil and Deep Dark Ocean - Live 1999. 4 min YT clip Nightwish- Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean With Tapio Wilska @ Lahti 21.7.2018 (HD) with Floor Tapio Wilska has better voice for this song than Marko, but when hes mainly visiting vocalist there is not much official material.

Julia, you've done it again. Love to hear your thoughts on a piece of music. One of the great things about live music is the humanity of it with things like you pointed out, fatigue indicators, which most people would not notice but would not be most likely in studio versions as they would just do another take. I've got to say that when it comes to perfection of skills and abilities in live vocals we don't have a whole lot to compare Floor to, especially when you take in all the versatility of her vocals. I recommend "Dead Boy's Poem" from this same concert for your next Floor/NIghtwish reaction. Thank you for a great reaction!

You make me even a bigger Nightwish fan every time you analyse them. When you explain how talanted she is even if I already know it. I had the chance to see them here in Sweden when Floor were maybe 7-8 months pregnant one of their last concerts before she gave birth. And had the chance to get a 2nd row place I will always remember my first Nightwish concert. Even then she performed as she used to do.

Thanks Julia👍,for your analytics and knowhow to give us a glimb what singing is all about. I think,Floor is certainly a great "subject"/person for vocal coaches to react to and explain what it's all about. That said, physics and the natural talent will play a big role in that also and the combination of Tuomas his compositions and great musicianship off all involved are a recipe for epic music.🤘 Have a nice christmas and a h(e)a pp(v)y new year.🤘🎄 Greetings from Spain.

This song is an absolute banger 🤘😎🤘. Kai's drumming on this is just crazy ( Kai Hahto "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto )!!! In one interview Tuomas/Marko said that Floor has a lungs of a dolphin (That long note is 💥)!!! Plus, she holds the last note (A4) of Nightwish - Ad Astra for 17 seconds (10/6/2022 Sweden Festival). If this wasn't impressive enough, I can also add than now she's just one, I mean ONE, second short from equaling Pavarotti's longest belt ever recorded. So,.... Nuff Said !!!! NWSU/FloorFan.

Marko's Devil character is amorously pursuing Floor's Mermaid character. She is having none of it, and manages to get away. An older song, from the 2ndalbum Oceanborn in 1998, before Marko. Studio vocals by Tarja and guest Tapio Wilska. This Buenos Aires concert was on the Decades tour, where they played a lot of older Tarja era songs. You don't have any reactions to Tarja yet. Please try, from the 2005 Helsinki concert (End of an Era DVD) "The Siren" or "Phantom of the Opera", Marko sings with her on both.
