It's a tragedy that she can't sing like this anymore after her throat surgery. It's a blessing that she recorded a lot of songs for all of us to enjoy. Julie is an international treasure.

You should listen to Julie and Raven-Symone's recording of 'Your Crowning Glory' for the PRINCESS DIARIES 2 soundtrack. Julie may no longer be able to hit high notes, but she still sounds fantastic!

Her voice is... I can't find a word to describe her amazing, beautiful voice! But even that warm and sweet and happy way she did and still do everything, with her whole heart! I just love her! Thank you, Julie!!

I don’t understand how Julie was able to sing two songs that made her a showbiz legend once more before her surgery. The main reason I had to watch The Sound Of Music the first time was of course for her.

I met Ms.Andrews in 1987 on the back parking of Fox Theater in St.Louis,MO.I waited in line to speak with her,and I welcomed her to St.Louis,and told her I think she has guts and I like people who have guts.I shook her hand while expressing this to her,and she smiled.I think Ms.Andrews IS One Genuine,Caring.Loving,Decent,Honest Human Being.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I remember Christmas was sitting with my mum watching and listening to the sound of music. Her favourite film. My favourite film. Now passed away (my mum that is) , hearing Julie always brings me to tears. What a wonderful, unsurpassable voice.

I am totally amazed that Ms Andrews can still sing these songs SO beautifully 30 years after the original movie and score was released. She is a remarkable and very blessed talent!

These beautiful selections were recorded for Julie's Philips album, "Broadway: The Music Of Richard Rodgers", with brilliant backing by maestro Ian Fraser and the London Musicians Orchestra.

In the documentary "Julie" from 1972 (okay a lot earlier than this) she is discussing songs as a pianist tries out music in different keys at the behest of arranger Nelson Riddle. She switches effortlessly from one key to another. She truly had perfect pitch or whatever music theorists want to call it.
@Shamsithaca7 жыл бұрын
She has perfect pitch.
@daniellemarie3347 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the exact same thing! I heard that, and I gasped, hoping that she could handle it (of course she can), and she did! It was incredible!! Of course, she has perfect pitch so it isn't a huge thing for her, but wow. She does it when she sings in concert as well. Amazes me every time!
@bigred84327 жыл бұрын
Chris, switching keys in terms of arrangements and just trying the piece out doesn't require perfect pitch. She was however a truly gifted and wonderful musician.

I just love Julie Andrews. She's the most beautiful lady alive. Such a shame she lost her singing voice. She is the best.
@allenjones31302 жыл бұрын
Ms. Schiller, I too deeply regret that Dame Julie is no longer able to sing like she used to due to the botched throat surgery she had back in the late 90s, but even if she hadn't had that surgery to start with, she might still not be able to sing like she used to because she's now in her eighties. (Julie was born Oct. 1, 1935 in Walton, England, UK.)
