I know everyone wants Sofia to win because she's funny and loud blah blah I love her but Julie Bowen is such an outstanding actress. Her facial expressions are flawless - I always watch her if she's on the screen, even if she's just in the background, because she continuously exceeds my expectations of how well an actor/actress can succeed in a role. She is the best actor on Modern Family - a testament to her great ability because she doesn't have the most loved character (like Ty/Sofia/Eric).

Bowen's comedic timing is phenomenal, and truly, her facial expressions are among the best I've ever seen by an actor... right up there with Bea Arthur good. Sophia is also brilliant in her role, but Bowen's character, Claire, has more range and diverse material to work with (comedy and drama). If they give Sophia a decent story line, she should def. win next year.

Agree 100% with you. Bowen has, by James Lipton's own admission, by far the "most complex" character of all of the MF cast. Very hard to make sense of Claire for the actor and for the audience; she has to be likable, but funny, whilst also playing the 'TV Mom.' Very, very difficult - more difficult that we think. Bowen makes it looks so easy. She truly deserves these two Emmys.
