My very first horse had a mild case of head shy-ness. I pretty much just stood next to her feed bucket. If you want to eat, you'll let me pet you. If you shy away, you don't get your feed. We worked our way up to the ears and eventually she learned pets = food. It was the easiest way I could think of doing it without too much stress on her or me, especially for a first timer.

Hi Julie, my name is Caitlin, and I have a 16 yr old American Paint Horse named Chris. Chris and I do many shows, Jumping, Barrel Racing, gaming ect. We are the perfect team! But, we have one HUGE problem. He will not do his right lead. I have had a few lessons solely on trying to get him to do it. I have done super tight circles tracking right, pulled his head to the wall ect. but he refuses to do it. I got him August 9th, 2014, and ride 4 times a week every week. In ALL of that time he has only done his right lead 4-6 times, and when he does, he doesn't bend his leg, but instead swings it around the side, and it is really awkward for both of us. Any advice would be helpful!~Caitlin
