12:35 my mom does this all the time, she's always complaining about things and telling her problems, but when i give her a solution, she'll be quiet and start with a new problem, oe continue. It really makes me think she just wants to be miserable all the time, it's sad to see and brings the mood down all the time
@olive4naito
@olive4naito 2 ай бұрын
That's avoidance. They hear someone trying to give a solution and don't want to discuss it. Being overly solution oriented can also be toxic. It can be a bit of a gray area because it's easy to blame people for not being happy and harder to see what's really going on inside. That's probably one thing his talks would benefit from. It leans more towards moralizing behaviors rather than trying to make sense of them. (Not to negate the truth that gaslighting and triangulation are toxic because they are).

@@olive4naitothe answer is always in the grey. when i started his programms it really messed me up cause i was only looking for black and white. looking back that sure hold me back, but otherwise i probably wouldnt even have listened to his advise. julien is keeping it really basic in his videos, probably to reach aa many people as possible and get the message out. in the end u have to apply the advice to your life and put it in perspective with your reality.
@Florianpimpf

and with keeping it basic, it was easy digestible and understandable for me. of course i misunderstood some teachings or went too far. but now i can look back and see where i went too far and reown that

Hey Julien, avoiding toxic traits like triangulation, gaslighting and gossip is definitely necessary but there's also "It's not about the thing, but it's about the place it's coming from". Meaning for example, it's possible that impose a seemingly negative frame like "don't try so hard" or "it's okay dear you don't have to justify yourself" just in a fun and teasing way, not making it personal, right?

Ugh, all these traits were super prevalent in my roommates awhile back, it was the absolute worst. Same with my family, but way less concentrated. They're why I try so hard to do things differently from them.
@kaitybell

Man this video triggered me a lot. My ex did most of these things with me and I mirrored some of them back. I realize it was imposed because I don't do any of these things now that I'm away from her, but I will definitely be conscious of some of these behaviors in myself.

Thank you for pointing all these out. I used to do SO many of these. As I mature and have more introspection with myself, I don't do a lot of these anymore. There are some big blocks I have that I definitely have to uncover. Diving deeper is really hard and I can see myself resisting a lot or giving myself a lot of excuses that I just start believing. I get comfortable then I get complacent. edit: I recently found u while trying to figure out how to "improve" myself with self-love and all your videos and recordings have been life changing. It's not ideal yet but I can actually let go of a lot of things and have much less anxiety. But I do still need to dig deeper to uncover more! Thank you for all that you do.
