Women set the value, women hate men that play video games and other men conform and shame you to get back on the plantation. They only value men that spend their time making money or doing something towards it. Gendor roles don't apply anymore, shame on them, we are not slaves and also want joy in our lives. You put my relationship with ADHD into words so accurately that it genuinely astounded me. Getting dopamine from talking about things then never doing them, getting dopamine from changing aspects of your physical environment, wanting to do something with every fiber of my being but not having it in me to act on it. You've truly made me feel understood and heard. Best of luck with your hyper-caffeinated squirrel brain and thank you so much for sharing

Unfortunately, "early access" isn't a problem solely on Microsoft's side, it's throughout the entire games industry on every platform. It is very important to not only call out Microsoft for the scummy practice, but the entire games industry. Early access was originally a way for indie devs to gain finances for development without a large start up capital, aka, crowdfunding. Some devs still use this original model. It wasn't long after that everyone else adopted the early access model as an incentive to pre-order, and then to pre-order deluxe versions, then ultimate versions.

Gaming is so mainstream these days I'm surprised the lazy gamer stereotype is still prevalent. And also, there's many other single person hobbies you can get into like reading and cinema, but if you're a reader or movie buff that stigma doesn't really exist. I game and read, and I admit when I meet someone new and they ask what I do, I lean on the reading thing first before I get to know the person better :/

I have never focused on things in my life. I hate studying. I was always frustrated with the classes I was forced to take cuz I just wanted to learn a bunch of different specific things so I could find my one thing. The only reading I do is subtitles. I am very scatter brained. And boy o boy I am a citizen of procrastination nation. Etc etc etc. You get the point. Then I discovered 2D animation. And for the first time I focused on something. Then my parents found a trade school for 3D art. And I worked 12 hours every day learning this stuff at that school. Yes I took breaks but I was finally focusing on things. Completing things. Enjoying things. Point I am making is for me it was all about my interest in the subject. I can focus, I can complete, I can be like everyone else. I just have to be interested. And there are aspects I am not interested in when making video games. I hate rigging. I hate animating. So I tend to procrastinate those things. But I love seeing what I am animating come to life. Even if its just with my poor animation skills. Which again points to I just have to be interested. And sometime I need to focus on what I am interested in rather than what I am not. Like I focus on the end goal of an animation, how much I enjoy seeing my characters come to life in order to get through the animating part. Literally everyone goes through this. Not one person on this planet has it easy all the time. We all have thing we have to just get though. Whether it be a job or studying or whatever. You are not alone. In high school you could say I was a slacker. But in the trade school you could say I was a nerd. None of us show it but we are all like "i hate my life, i hate my life, i hate my life" at something. lol. We all have ways of getting through the parts of our life that we hate. Everyone just has to figure out their way.

I remember when I was 17 turning 18, I was already being pressured to stop playing video games (and doing other "childish" things like hanging out with friends) and be 100% focused on school and getting a career. I'm in my 30's now and without videogames giving me that reprieve from the bullies from school, the endless fights between my parents, the gaslighting from co-workers in my adulthood, and the overall toxic-negative state of the world, I would not be here. And its also through videogames that I learned just how close I was to not living at all thanks to my Grandmother (RIP) who saw me play Call of Duty World At War on launch day and told me the story how she, as a child, narrowly escaped death squads in occupied Philippines all because she saw and heard the Japanese soliders in the game. In her final years, she told me one simple thing before she left: "Be happy." And videogames are one of few things that continue to make me so.

I have similar experience to that "brain fog" that you mention. Although it is not the same, it is the closest description I have heard. I don't know why but sometimes I'm doing something, like playing video games, but I know I have to do something else. Something really important, like a task for my job, but I can't stop. I'm thinking all the time about how I need to stop doing this, and how important the other task, and all the trouble I'm going to get into for not doing it but I just can't stop and do the other task. Is like my mind wants something but my body is doing something on it's own, I just can't stop. Sometimes I yell at myself on my but I can't stop. I have lost so many jobs, I have been in so much trouble because of that thru the years but I don't know why that happens.

I barely watch TV or do internet browsing because I play video games with my spare time. It usually means about 8 hrs in a week but it's what I can manage and it helps me decompress. You know why everyone looks down on male leisure? It's not because male leisure didn't exist in previous generations (though leisure time was more fleeting), it's that perception of the leisure exists now. When a man went off on hunts or was out working the fields, they weren't at home for their wife to perceive their leisure, it happened spontaneously and away from home. Now she can watch you on the couch nearby and her generationally trained brain, regardless of its accuracy, thinks that you are being lazy. Sane with older people. Our species existed where men were scarce around the homestead until relatively recently. Nothing has changed except that men's leisure happens at the homestead now and evolved brains through generations of reproduction for females and older people views this leisure on the homestead as laziness inherently. It's sad.

I genuinely enjoy video games and even procrastinate in games too. I like resident evil games but it takes me very long to remember where I'm going. I could think harder but then Im trying to enjoy the puzzle part and not the hall ways I just went through. Technology also brings me joy. I still have crts and play on a lgc1 77 with an old 7.1 surround sound that I will uprade to 7.1.6. Work life has never stimulated me for long, like video games can. I had one job where I could be the jack of all trades and every other job even tho they had similar fabrication elements it was me sitting down doing the same thing over and over.
