Hey man. Just want to tell you I appreciate all that you do. I'm a dad as well, 35, and identify with a lot of what you've got going on (adhd, parenthood, metalcore/hardcore music, coffee, nostalgia gaming, etc). Keep it up and just know that you're appreciated.

I haven’t even gotten through the video, but just based on the title, I wanna say that Morrowind is the greatest game in the history of all time

IMO classic games are better because the people who created them cared about gaming and not about making money or politics they were just there to have fun and share possibly a story or experience with other people.

41, kids are teens now, and I'm so happy they get to experience older games through remakes. when I was younger I always imaged a world without loading screens and now we're kinda here! I say remake everything so the younger gen can see how far along gaming has come. I was a huge arcade gamer back in the day and recently fell in love with VR games. I use to dominate in HoD and Time Crisis arcade! These games today are blowing my freakin mind!

Modern development teams have seemingly unlimited budgets, insane AI creation tools and 5+ years to build them - yet they just don't have the ability to create art or good writing.

I think its because old games had a really good formula that worked. This is why remakes that a close to their original version does so well.

Games were headed by creatives. Business came second. Nowadays there is so much money in games that we get incomplete messes that get patched later. I rarely buy DLCs but the impact of the model is still felt.

Watching this as I have also been finding mild success on my own channel playing Age of Mythology Retold, a remake of a game that came out in 2002.. and I know nostalgia plays into these feelings but good god I have been having so much fun with the game regardless

Good games are good. No matter the age. In the past, you had to make them as complete as possible because your couldn't just update them with fixes.

Some of it is nostalgia, BUT it's not all just nostalgia. I've gone back and played some games I missed in my childhood and they were just better than the slop we get now. I think what it comes down to is when you're looking back on older games, you just focus on the good stuff selectively. There was a ton of shovelware back then too but we just ignore those titles and focus on the generational classics. There are good titles coming out in today's time also, but we're less likely to overlook the recent slop and as a result it looks like gaming declined.

@@KP-48-007 I'm speaking in general terms. You're telling me you've NEVER played an older game because you're nostalgic about it?
@KP-48-007
@KP-48-007 13 күн бұрын
@jon_senpaii2024 the genres that I used to play as a kid are mostly different. Also if it was just nostalgia I wouldn't finish the game and I only finish games that get me hooked and those 2000s games do get me hooked.

Also... I cannot bring myself to appreciate another ultra-realism, Unreal Engine game. For the love of all that is good, where did uniqueness and style go in games?!

Gaming is all about remaking. It is the media that doesn't persist. Think books and movies. Sure there are remakes, but you can probably play the originals. Gaming is a bit more difficult. Also extends to boardgames. How many times has monopoly been remade and has DLC?

Maybe they're tired of repetitive open world games where there's a cash shop for single player games. Before anybody says I have rose colored glasses, older games have accessibility, difficulty, and graphical issues.

In short, because they work without microtransactuon or endless patches. I have been playing Fallout NV, I am almost finished and will continue on to FO3. I have little to no interest in games past 2020. They are expensive, unfinished, some have microtransactions. Some are reboots and also the social commentary, I could do without.
