I also don’t have a car payment. I always allocate money to a “pretend” car loans/loans/different savings accounts. Then when I need to buy a car, I take out of my “pretend” car loan money. Always live on a budget and stick what isn’t used into GICs. Lock your savings up, it also works as a protection. Because it’s locked in, you or anyone can’t just take it. You have to actually physically go in to your branch to touch that money. As there is proper paperwork that needs to be signed.
