I love this . I did also make the rope wreath, but I used a wire wreath frame that I wrapped with burlap first before glueing it down. Makes it more suitable for outside. I also sprayed it with rust oleum clear gloss and then sprayed it with scotchguard outdoor waterproofed and uv protection.

First, thank you for this video! With all the time I’ve spent making the braided version of this wreath I can’t believe I never thought of this way!! It’s beautiful and simple to make once you get the hang of it!! From one wreath-maker to another I thought I’d share a tip (or I guess alternate way of making it) that makes the finished product even more versatile...So the more I make wreaths the more I feel like the less glue I can get away with using, the better. Before making my first braided rope wreath I watched several different tutorials just to see what the differences were, if any. The one thing everyone was doing that I wasn’t thrilled about was gluing the whole braid to some sort of base. For whatever reason, it killed me to think of “destroying” the back side of the braid by slathering glue all over it 😆 (yes I realize it’s not going to be seen but still!) So I finally found a tutorial where they used a simple sewing technique to secure the braid to a wire wreath frame (2-hoop base in the tutorial I watched). Depending on the width of your braid, I’ve also successfully used a single hoop base or the standard 3 hoop. I assure you I do not sew and I was easily able to sew that bad boy to the wire frame easy peasy! I used a dot of super glue here and there (I prefer the kind with a brush applicator) to secure the knot at the end of each length of string I used. To sew I just used some white embroidery string and a large sewing needle. One of the main reasons I don’t like to use glue if at all possible is because I like to be able to take things apart or change them if I choose. This particular wreath is already very versatile, but without all the glue on the back you’re able to easily stick floral stems and greenery right through the rope (or in between the individual strands of the braid) and secure them to one of the wires on the back using floral wire and/or tape. One time I actually got away with just using a few clear zip ties to secure a rope braid to a wire base! The rope I used was thinner/lighter and “stiffer” than the dollar tree kind so the zip ties worked perfectly! For Christmas this year my mom asked me to make 4 of the braided ones for her coworkers. What mattered to her most was her coworkers having the ability to easily change out the decorations without too much of a hassle (or prior wreath making knowledge) and use the wreaths year round. Of course the sewing method will take longer and be more tedious but for me it was worth it. I’m so sorry for the super long comment!! I just thought I’d share my knowledge/experience in making this style of wreath! Thank you again for sharing yours!!

My sister and I made angels out the twisted paper. Covered a styrofoam cone long ways with paper, then a styrofoam ball at the top covered with the paper. Stretched out the paper and cut wings as well. We made them 3 sizes and set them on the hearth. My sister died in 2018, my mom died last year and she still had her set. So I brought them home. Love your crafts and thank you for sharing your time and talents with us.

Julie, I crafted in the 80s & used this "paper twist ribbon" a lot. Have not seen it in awhile, but a friend gave me a box full of it some time ago & I am using it occasionally.. I do believe that's what it is called. One caution is that when unwrapping it, be careful. It can tear with too much pulling. If you can spare the time, it can be soaked in warm water , then unravel it while still damp, then allow to dry.

I spent as much time as possible with him. then when I went back to check on him after teaching piano lessons, he had crossed the rainbow bridge. sweet Beaux is running and playing with other pets with his wings! he can breathe easy and run happily through the gardens of doggie heaven.
