When thinking about it, this song actually makes a lot of sense given the context of gladiators. They were an existence similar to that of football players and the like. While they often were slaves, they still filled the part of the niche that was the entertainment industry in ancient Rome. So a bright exciting song that conveys the spectacle of the gladiatorial games fits well.
