Hats off to you, Joel Torre! Everything you said on changing the mindset of the Filipinos is true. The Koreans succeeded because of their support for fellow Koreans and their government’s support as well. Of course, corruption exists in all countries but nothing like the corruption in the Philippines. It’s also the mindset of instant gratification instead of thinking long term - what can be done now to improve the future of the country and not which official gives the most during elections for someone to vote for. Granted that the reason for instant gratification is poverty and the current needs, it would then be up to the elected officials to be true to their promise and not the promises to themselves to have an overflowing pocket. Philippine politics is now a business that even actors get into because of the money they can pocket. Honest people like you, Mr. Torre, is what the Philippine government needs though you will have to be a martyr and make a lot of sacrifices for your and I know a lot of Filipinos’ ideals. Prayers for you and the Philippines that the good ol’ glory days to return when the country was one of the best in Asia.

Thank you for this interview, Sir Julius! I was born in Bacolod and I remember after school sa kindergarten in the late 70's, we would buy chicken inasal sa mga kanto on the way home. Favorite rin namin ang Nena's & Aida's sa Manokan Country at nilalakad lang namin when we lived in San Juan St. Mr. Torre, sana mag open kayo rito sa Florida or magbenta sa mga Filipino Festivals. Trivia: Oro, Plata, Mata's last scenes were filmed in my Alma Mater, Negros Occidental High School and Mambukal Mountain Resort. God bless.
