Watch This PBY Catalina RC Plane Soar Through the Sky and Over Water!

This model is capable of take off and landing on water, by detaching all the landing gear, patch the landing gear well and cover it again using packing tapes. I need to coat the hull or the underbelly with 4 layers of plastic primer, even before doing that I also already coating the hull with 2 layer of clear varnish to make it water tight. Even with that effort it still a bit leaking if it takes too long on water before taking off. I suspect the leaking is from the main landing gear well on each sides. Also I need to replace both floats with foam block to prevent leaking.

Beautiful results Julius. For my own float and seaplanes, I have found in helpful to install small water rudders to stabilize the plane until there is enough speed for the air rudder to be effective. Thank you for sharing. Jim

@@JuliusPerdana Didn’t know that, but it’s a big and floaty airplane. Rc planes are often just less floaty, so that makes for harder landings. You made it work great though!

Add a small water rudder to keep straight & steady on take-off. We find full up-elevator and full throttle is best technique for foamy float planes to get them off the water quickly before they go wild.

Love your work ,you now have too much up thrust 2-2.5 degrees max up thrust re-test for c of g .adjust cg 70%should be close remember up thrust is because motors are in top of wing behind or in cg acting as a level pushing nose down you should be able to go from full power climb cut power to idle and it should smoothly transition to a steep glide
