3 calls on the 4th of July. A 29' Hunter going to Constitution Marina, a 33' Irwin going to Scituate Harbor, and a 25' Grady White, with a camo wrap, going to the Weymouth Back River Ramp. Overcast morning followed by a sunny evening. Check out my other 4th of July video for the late night call full of drama.

That takes some skill to tow a boat in those tight quarters! I never thought I would be interested in boats getting towed but here I am, watching all your vids! Take care

Impressive that you can maneuver a single engine so well. I'd think twins would be almost mandatory for a tow boat. But, you've proven otherwise. Bravo Zulu.

Great job on all three calls. I don't understand how someone doesn't carry fuel as a precaution.

Always sad when a sailboat runs out of fuel. For the engine.

I’m pretty sure he ran out of fuel for the sails and the engine, otherwise he would have sailed until he was close in then put the dinghy on the hip. That darn sail fuel

If I had a Sailboat and had to be towed because I ran out of fuel and there was wind, I would be giving up boating, embarrassing in my opinion!

@@pepperroni4016 Just defies all logic? You only use the motor in a sailboat for getting on and off the dock and if you're getting in trouble with weather or tide/conditions pushing you toward the non-watery bit!

@nickmaclachlan5178 yes this makes sense. These people are going to yuppie congested areas, tough to navigate for a Yuppie. Shame on them for running out of gas. Total disgust

Hello Captain, great channel....little confused why a sail boat would need a tow when I see other sail boats under sail in your video....whats that called....I got tired of sailing for the day or forgot how to put up the sail? Funny thing about boats they always need maintenance and money particularly in the saltwater.
@wickedsailorboston
@wickedsailorboston 28 күн бұрын
Typically it's due to lack of an operational auxiliary engine. Many times when the wind is low or out of an unfavorable direction, people will "motorsail." That is sailing while also using the auxiliary engine. Otherwise a short sail could turn into an all day excursion. Also, we're in the business of towing. When they want a tow, we don't ask questions 😅. Thanks for checking out the channel.

Whatever happened to using 1/3 of tank on the way out and 2/3 of tank for the return ?
@wickedsailorboston
@wickedsailorboston 21 күн бұрын
Many fuel gauges use old "float" switches. As the fuel gets used, a float inside the tank moves lower sending a signal to the gauge to read the status of the tank. Older floats get gummed up and stick in certain positions so as the fuel drops out the float doesn't move. The gauge will read half full, but the tank is empty.

Why are those marine radio's so hard to understand?
@wickedsailorboston
@wickedsailorboston Ай бұрын
Most people hold the receiver right up to their mouth and peak the audio so it distorts. That combined with wind noise usually makes it pretty hard to understand sometimes.

I’m only a little over 3 minutes in and can say this first boat is inept. Out of fuel, on a sailboat no less, likely on a day with no wind or doesn’t know how to sail, likely didn’t check the fuel guage, and everyone just sitting there doing nothing to help. Hang out on the slip if you’re this clueless! Now for the rest of the video.
