What a great little show! I personally like putting a little intentional black sky in the show to build anticipation and let some of the smoke clear out. The smoke seems to be more of a problem with consumer fireworks than with the pro stuff, and can sometimes amplify the light from the breaks and thus drown out effects like palms and willows. I always like to set off my 2' x 4' boards separately and treat each one like an individual display - each with their own mini finale (sometimes each board even has a "theme"). I leave a few minutes in-between each board to let the smoke clear and to build anticipation for the next one. I usually shoot off rockets and the large roman candles in-between boards. I don't like sky puke so always start each board out 1 cake at a time, and will sometimes bump it up to 2 cakes at once before going back to 1, and then a mini finale of 2 or 3 cakes alongside something like a 12-shot mortar rack. It equates to about 1.5 to 3 minutes per board. I can stretch my show to at least an hour and can even push an hour and a half using this method. It's perfect for neighborhood and backyard displays where it's just a bunch of neighbors, church folk, and family attending and wanting an entire evening to chillax in the grass.

Great tips! And an awesome show! I’m really picky and all those fireworks for one of my shows would’ve lasted 30 minutes LOL just because I would spread them out a little slower so it’s not so smoky and you can see each individual cake. I think having one continuous fuse like that make the show kind a look like a sky puke towards the 1/2 point. I would put a break maybe halfway through the show and let it calm down a little bit here and there and it gets to the crowd on their tippy toes.but That’s me being picky. Great fusing techniques and I will use your aluminum foil trick on my racks this year!

Hello PVN. Thanks for watching! Hope your show goes great and you found some of the tips useful! I will be implementing some wireless remote ignition for July 4th 2020. Mostly because I will be adding my display to a local HOA display and I will need the ability to remote ignite from a safe distance for certain segments of the show. I'm hoping I will be able to capture this on a basic remote firing tutorial video.

@@brandonc7450 My 2019 show got rained out for the most part. I ended up firing off individual pieces during a short break in the rain but had about 60 percent of my 2019 stash unused. The bright side of it all is : I'm re-stocking for 2020 like I'm starting from scratch and will include EVERYTHING I have in July. I will use all your fusing\taping tips so that the weather cant stop the show! I recommend you check out the Cobra firing system for your wireless interface. I didn't use it in my show because of the rain but it was very reliable in all the tests I did. Can't wait to see what you do in the future. Best of luck in 2020!

Thank you for these videos. I have two questions: 1. Did someone pay you to put on these shows or are you volunteering? 2. Did you have to get a permit with a city or HOA to do the show? Oh and 3. How did you select your launch site? Thanks again.
@brandonc7450
@brandonc7450 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Luvinthe Jazz, thanks for watching! 1. No one pays me to do these shows, I just enjoy it as a hobby. 2. I shoot all 1.4G consumer grade pyro, so no permit with a city is needed. The HOA of the lake does their own show, who I teamed up with for 2020. 3. The HOA selected the launch site that would provide the best view for all of the homes on the lake. We take precautions such as angling the boards to shoot out over water and wetting down the immediate area with a garden hose to reduce the chances of fires. For 2020, I also put up plywood behind my cake boards to act as a shield to protect myself and any spectators behind the firing line.

Brandon ... Overall .. a nice show... For 2020... My only advice would be about how you recorded it... The camera was a little close so you missed some of the higher breaking effects... Also, if possible, try to add another angle with a GoPro or phone and cut between them... It keeps the eye moving and adds a while other level of visual stimulus. Nice job

Hey thanks for watching! I did have some cakes from Pro Fireworks. I buy my pyro anywhere from 3-8 weeks after the fourth of July for next year. I tend to find the best deals and sales around that time frame. You should check out Red Apple Fireworks if you live in the South East part of Michigan. Very large store with great product and very good prices. For July 4th 2020, Ill be shooting with the HOA of the lake seen in this video. I'll be switching to mostly mortars. I have about 360. Two boards will make up the finale. I may also try out a wireless firing system. Thanks for the offer to help! If you live up near Onoway you're pretty far to the North from me though lol. Hi Fluphen Azine, thanks for watching! Yes, it is a bit close for comfort. That's why I try to angle the racks/boards towards the water. This should provide at least some protection from a cake if it does end up blowing out.

@brandonc7450
@brandonc7450 4 жыл бұрын
Hello ReGenesis Art. The total cost of the pyrotechnic product in this display was about $1,600. That includes the 12% (6% normal Michigan sales tax & 6% fire sales tax) tax. It does not include anything else ie; plywood, fasteners, DR11 HDPE mortar tubes, home-made mortar racks, fusing, tape, liquid nails, tarps/plastic, ect. Red Apple fireworks has good prices, Phantom Fireworks is good only if they have the "buy one get two free" deal. Pro Fireworks is good on prices but I had a few pieces from them "blow-out". And there are a few pieces that I like from Jakes Fireworks. Jakes gives 10% off your whole order for active and veteran military.

You can get fireworks from almost anywhere. The fireworks in this show were from Phantom Fireworks, Pro Fireworks, and Jakes Fireworks. For 2020, I purchased a lot of my stuff from Red Apple located in Monroe Michigan. Buy only 1.4G stuff. Great instructional video. However to me it looks like you had a bunch of cakes shooting on top of each other. Is that the way your show was designed or was there a miscalculation in the burn time for your cakes?
@brandonc7450
@brandonc7450 3 жыл бұрын
High fast fireworks, thanks for watching. It was a bit of both. The majority of the show was designed to have (1) 200g cake and (1) 500g cake firing at one time. The slow fuse burn rate was advertised at 25-30 seconds per foot. I did my layout based on 30 seconds per foot but the fuse burned closer to 25 seconds per foot. So there were times when 3 or four cakes were firing at one time due to the faster burn time on the fuse.

Hey Brandon, great job on that show brother! I'm new to pyro myself, and from Michigan as well. New here on KZbin also. I shot my first show on Memorial Day this year. Only about four minutes long, but a great experience. Just finishing the prep on my boards for the Fourth. Longer, more intense show. Anyway, have a great show, be safe, and have an awesome Fourth! Liked and subbed, maybe you could share the love...

Hi Steve, thanks for watching! Sadly, the area in which I shoot is very tight so I can only use one launch site.

Great show but alot of sky puke, i would slow it down a little like one cake at a time( if you can help it)until you get to a false finally, then pause for a few seconds after the false finally, shoot off a mixture of 200 and 500 gram cakes plus add some true ball artillery shells in there one at at time leading into the actual finally. Great show anyway

That was a bit too much, pace-wise. Too busy, couldn't appreciate half of the fireworks due to so much going on. Also the smoke got overwhelming and took away from the effect. Try changing up the pace throughout. Have a busy section, have a slower more deliberate section, etc. Loved the how to portions though. Very good instruction. Thank you.
