Kirsten Dunst's first major role was in 1994 - Interview With A Vampire and the same year Little Woman. Then she did this movie. Her first role was released in 1989 (she was born in 1982).

I watched this movie 3 times when it first came out in the theater. I went to see it completely blind, and ended up loving the moving so much. It was so very different and Robin Williams (RIP) was awesome. Yes, watch the next two, it's definitely worth it. I've watched all three over a dozen times each.

Jumanji, in a roundabout way, ended up doing a lot of good for the protagonists. Alan made amends with his father and presumably had a pretty good relationship with him for the rest of their lives, and Judy and Peter got to keep their parents. I don’t know if it’s intentional on the game’s part but I’ve always kinda wondered!

Kinda reminds me of Silent Hill atleast in Silent Hill 2, this undeniably evil force that torments whoever enters but puts those who survive it on a road to redemption.

Alan's words to Sarah when getting pulled into Jumanji were "Roll the Dice" She had a 1 in 4 chance to bring him back.
@lupoarg4 ай бұрын
Well, actually, since he was not able to roll the dice, she could keep trying cause now all the turns were hers. So it's more like 1 chance every turn until she beats the game or brings Alan back.
@c.h.922312 күн бұрын
@@lupoarg I don't think the game would allow here to role more than once (or twice if she roled a double). Judy wasn't allowed to role when it was Sarahs turn.

This was one of the first movies I watched in 2000 when I was 5 years old. I loved it. I watched it a lot. I’m so glad you guys liked it. Growing up with this movie, it was powerful for me. When they made a remake solely for money with The Rock and other actors, I didn’t like the idea. But it ended up being a fun movie. It did not capture the magic of the original but it was a hit and it was fun. I think many fans are judgmental towards new additions to their franchises. There is potential with new stories, Jumanji did it well. Only one I could say is better is Cobra Kai after you watch Karate Kid 1-3. Love you guys! Happy you loved this movie.

There is a sequel of two other films. I do recommend watching them. They aren't as intense as this movie, but still continues the mythos of the game, and are pretty funny and sweet too. A spiritual sequel to this film is Zathura (2005). I say spiritual sequel since Jumanji and Zathura were sequels in their book versions, written by Chris Van Allsburg.
@DesertHomesteader5 ай бұрын
Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle (2017) is sort of a reboot of this movie, not a remake. The second movie takes place inside the game instead of the real world and references Alan Parrish once or twice. It is very different, yet very much worth watching.

I grew up during the 90s and Jumanji - among a few others - was one of those all-time fave movies you were always excited to watch, a movie that lots of people had on VHS back then. We mostly watched it together with extended family and it was always fun. If you wanna check out some other absolute 90s VHS classics, I recommend "The Mask" and "The Fifth Element"! You won't regret it. 😃

One of Robin Williams famous films! I am glad you guys reacted to it! I really must recommend you check out Zathura; it’s pretty much the same premise to Jumanji except it’s in space. It also stars a young Josh Hutcherson and Kirsten Stewart. I have a theory that the game itself was made possibly by a shaman, and then they gave it probably to some European invaders. The shaman must’ve placed a curse on it to whoever plays it must face the wrath of the jungle. 🎲

the other Jumanji isnt anywhere close to this one. they try to tie the movies together is a lil cameo nod but ultimately think of this Jumanji as its own thing compared to the Dwayne Johnson ones. especially the tone. i loved how creepy and scary jumanji felt. remember this is just stuff that came out of the jungle to the real world, but the Dwayne Johnson ones make Jumanji more i guess less scary
@alfredocornelio43295 ай бұрын
While there is no sequel to Jumanji, there is "Zathura", a spiritual successor to it and they both take place in the same universe and both written or based on the same author's books. Unfortunately while the film was positively received, it wasn't a box office success as Jumanji, but that is more attributed to marketing and timing. But the film has great special effects, writing, sense of child-like wonder, adventure etc. It was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man) after his success with Elf. It's more of a "space opera" type work, so Jumanji in space without Robin Williams. Check it out.
