This just in: British Airways are retiring their 747s immediately because of the coronavirus outbreak. These news have broken the hearts of everyone who works for British Airways and all British Airways customers. Yes, even me. You were a beautiful plane. You brought joy, courage, pride, and honour to British Airways. British Airways wouldn't be the same without you. British Airways cared for you more than any other airline cared for their 747s. British Airways was the largest operator of the 747-400. I'm going to miss flying on you to New York and Cape Town. You played a key part in the history of British Airways. Farewell, 747. You will be missed.

Love the photos, but Made in England? First of all, we all know the B747’s final assembly is in Renton, Washington and secondly they are technically British Airways, not English Airways. Yes, they are clearly London-centric these days but they do operate flights out of many other UK airports (I used to fly BA a lot from MAN to New York back in the day.) Not bashing because BA is my favourite airline....besides the one I happen to work for...and the B747 is and will remain one of my all-time favorite airliners.
