I lost my father in January this year. When I was around 10 years old we went to Alaska on a family trip. I’ll never forget the salmon fishing I did with him. King salmon and saukeye salmon. I remember hooking into a Saukeye at the edge of the river and almost getting pulled in. I’ll never forget the taste of the salmon that we smoked. To this day when I have smoked salmon it reminds me of being in Alaska with him. I’m 37 years old now. RIP dad.

Wow, I'm going through pretty much of the same thing as you Doug. Did you have any hip replacements yet? I had my left one done in February and I'm going for pre-op appointments currently for the right. I have a pretty decent walker though, and I went out and got a freshwater fishing license. I can sit there on my walker and fish, but it's not the easiest thing to do, I know like the bass are hiding down at the other end by lily pads or something but there's no way I could get there because the terrain's impossible, so I feel you brother!

Dear Robert - I haven't fished in over 40+ years. More importantly, I have spent my career working my butt off to provide for my family. Thank G-d, I've been blessed with success and a beautiful family. But candidly, I've failed to live true to your motto, "All Men Die, Few Really Live". As my kids are starting to hit their late teens and early 20's, I've realized that I've taken only a handful of vacations in my life. I always enjoy watching this channel because Robert takes time to connect our hobby and passion to real human stories. With all the troubles in the world, it's always refreshing to witness folks coming together for a singular purpose, in this particular case, to recognize Frank Reid and highlight his shared love for fishing. When I was 8 my great grandpa Ponder told me be the best what you can be every day no matter what. At 41 that has always stuck with me no matter what life has brought.
