Scary as hell! Bottomline, walking on Phobos is like doing a space walk off your ship! Thus, one will have to either be attached to a space vehicle or have a space suit with a propulsion system to be able to come back to the surface of it in case of an accidental jump!

You would need grappling hooks and just hook yourself on the surface. Even normal walks take you up to scary heights.

@alangravley9574 .. Yes, it does seem to be a glaring error, which lots of people did not notice.. I sometimes wonder if the uploader added an error purposely so as to procure lots of comments.. I once read that, if anyone were to set foot on Venus, they would be crushed, poisoned, and roasted instantly
@jefferyditlefsen81774 ай бұрын
@@alangravley9574 atmospheric pressure is different than gravity, if you stood on the bottom of the ocean the pressure would be crushing but you could still jump. Atmospheric pressure comes from all directions while gravity pulls you down.
@MESKELETON94914 ай бұрын
No, you wouldn't jump into space if you jumped on the surface of Phobos, but you would reach a much greater height compared to jumping on Earth due to its weak gravity. Phobos has a gravity of about 0.003 times that of Earth, meaning you could float in the air longer, but you would eventually come back down because of gravity. While you might reach a certain height with a strong jump, it wouldn’t be enough to overcome gravity and escape into space.

@u4riahsc Жыл бұрын
A few years ago I heard that the reason you would see astronauts on the moon doing a hop at the end when they are walking is because the weight of their habitat suit is around 150 pounds and if they stopped walking suddenly, the weight of their body and habitat suit going in forward motion would cause them to launch flat on their face. All those years ago, watching Neil and Buzz on the moon I thought they were just playing.

A third moon of Mars/secret moon of phobos which isnt even visible from Earth and reflects so little light that it is impossible to detect from Earth unless you have some year 57800 technology which I doubt you have. However if this was Deimos, you wouldn't orbit Deimos but would rather orbit Mars as Deimos is even lesser
@CoSmiC__VoiCeАй бұрын
@@Inactivepaper I don't understand why you wrote this comment as a reply under my comment because it is not related to the subject and what you said is nonsense. First of all, the subject mentioned here is the gravity and gravitational acceleration depending on the mass of the satellites. These can be calculated and my comment was about this. (Phobos on Jump)There is no physical error, I don't know which science you evaluated. The second subject is that we don't need to look at the satellites of Mars from Earth, we can send vehicles to Mars and its orbit, we can take images. This does not require more advanced technology than today. In fact, the technology of these receivers is usually at least 10 years older. For example: 1. The Viking orbiter took an image of Phobos in 1977. 2. Images of Phobos and Deimos were taken from NASA's Mars orbiter. 3. ESA's Mars Express orbiter imaged the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos together on 5 November 2009. The images were acquired with the Super Resolution Channel (SRC) of the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC). The camera took 130 images of the moons on 5 November at 9:14 CET in a span of 1.5 minutes at intervals of 1s, speeding up to 0.5-s intervals toward the end. The image resolution is 110 meters per pixel for Phobos and 240 meters per pixel for Deimos - Deimos was more than twice as far from the camera. Ok? Got it?
@InactivepaperАй бұрын
@CoSmiC__VoiCe No, i meant you would need advanced tech if you wanted to develop a telescope which can visually detect a human orbiting Mars or phobos from Earth. From Earth. Hope this helps you understand I wasn't even talking about detecting phobos
