Zack WhoAmI Bought Jump Force the other day. The story is laughable and the gameplay, while stronger than J-Stars Victory VS IMO, leaves much to be desired. I think the problem is that a game like the original Jump DS title would be mistaken as a Smash Bros. clone, or perhaps the 3D models are a selling point, idk to be honest. If a company like Arc Systems (BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, DB Fighters Z) ever made a Jump game, I'd think it would be great.

If we are talking about the roster of characters I think one main issue is which ones they should enter and which not, because Shonen Jump has thousands of them, and they could put 100 at best in the same fighting game. There are some characters there are well liked in Japan but unknown or even hated overseas and viceversa, and there are series where the extra characters are way more popular than some main characters of some series, that is why we often see many Dragonball or One Piece characters. Also there are some characters that used to be very popular back then but there still have a fandom in the West while their popularity already died down in Japan. In other words you cannot pleased everyone.

This game has a charm to it. Same goes for Victory Vs(although it doesn't have as many characters, it does refresh the roster and add a story). What I appreciate is that both games offer several Easter eggs, characters don't feel forced, each manga gets some limelight. And Vs gives interactions between characters and it feels like a celebration collab. Jump Force just feels lacking in every way.

Jump Force didn't advertised the current mangas like what the previous jump games did. Main characters of Jump Ultimate Stars were the Ongoing Mangas of that year except Goku, Same with J stars Victory, except, again, Goku. Even much older games did it with Jump Famicom 1 and 2.

God, I really wish that one of these days they'll actually make an official sequel to Jump Ultimate Stars. That way they could add in more playable and assist characters from series who weren't in this game. Like Medaka, Koro-Sensei, Saiki, Toriko, Bossun, Chitoge, Deku, Asta, Ryo, Hitomi, Tanjirou, Dai, Taluluto, Baoh, Rikuo, Yuma, Kuroko, Soma, Hinomaru, Senku, Emma, Boruto, Lala and Oga.
