Luhan speaks so smoothly like he's still living in Korea. But Tao is the complete opposite lol. He hasn't forgotten the words but his tones are way off 😅 and Kris is in between lol

I think its got to do with their baseline level of proficiency as well. You have a lot more of a “buffer” to regress if you start off at a higher point. Luhan was originally really fluent, like native level korean to the point many people thought he was one of the korean members in exo m at debut. Kris also was a trainee for 5 years before debut, and so learned the language for a long time and spoke it a lot as well. Meanwhile Tao struggled with Korean pronounciation a great deal even while in exo and also picked it up pretty late; he only got more proficient a year-ish into their debut somewhere about growl era and then he left soon after, so its not at all surprising to me. The fact that he remembers the vocabulary at all is already pretty great.

Kris was the Chinese member who had been trained for more than 4 years until debut (January 2008-April 2012) while Tao trained for 1 year and half and Luhan only trained 1 year since he was scoutted by SM agency due to his unique look in 2011.

Dechris Ellena Luhan was scouted in 2010 but he had been studying in Korea at the time. This is why Luhan was the Chinese member who was the most fluent in Korean since he actually wen to school in Korea for several years before becoming a trainee

Purple panda Sometimes I like to imagine EXO in an alternate universe, where Kris is the main English speaking one and eventually taking up Suho and Kyungsoo as English speaking apprentices. I think they could have lasted much longer in the scene. I’m not saying that they’re irrelevant right now, but since military service they’ve gone on hiatus as a group and only unit activities are possible. The chances of EXO-M (China line, performing together in China while the rest were away) and probably more promotions. I dunno, I’m such a huge OT12 stan that it still sometimes gets me when I look back and think about the possibilities IF THEY NEVER LEFT. But I’m happy for them since they can freely do whatever they want now. But I wish their friendship remained. Like how Hangeng is with SuJu members now. I WANT THAT FOR MY BOYS, TOO.

It's great that they still communicate in what language that is needed. I love it when they speak any language, but have grown more to hearing them speaking Mandarin/Cantonese (their mother tongue), due to their music/shows. It does feel like it's been a long time since I've heard them speak Hangul, and even I'm still shocked when I hear them. For me, my opinion, they were all good. Kris and Luhan they sound like a native Korean. For Lay he absolutely good because he's not an ex-member, he still a member of EXO. The new comeback in this year 2021 he was there. For Tao, yes he do speak Korean but his pronounce more in Chinese
