My Father was the same age as Dick Contino and played the accordion because of Dick Contino. And in his later years, even drove up to Seattle to buy a Petosa accordion. No one played the accordion with flair, verve and style like Dick Contino did because of the tremendous strength it took.

My grandpa met your dad in Korea during the war, Your father's whole USO tour stayed at the Chosun Hotel and met my grandpa who was the front desk clerk. I have a photo of gramps with Dick Contino and an autograph of Johnny Standley. At one point i had the guestbook of the hotel, which had your dad's wonderful signature in it as well. It must have been a hell of a party there that night in 1953!

Does anyone know anything of the bass side in eight rows he playes here? Never seen anything like this before! Nice playing and fine artist he was! Love this!

I think it has 3 rows of offset counter-bass buttons as his main bass row seems to be row 4. These expanded Stradella systems were more common before the introduction of free-bass converter systems - quite rare to see these days. Many players in the Balkans use accordions with 7 rows of bass that are still manufactured in Italy.
