I so get the living on your own as a peace of mind. I enjoyed this video. My story: I went from living with my parents and siblings to college roommates to being married and raising a family. My husband, of 32 years, passed away 14 months ago from cancer. All of our children are grown. This past year has been the first time in my life that I've lived alone. I've been in sheer survival mode for most of this last year. Between grief and the financial struggle. He didn't have life insurance, and what little we had in savings went to paying for his last arrangements. I am 55, not old enough in the state of CA to receive his social security, and he had no retirement funds either. I work full-time as a Pre-K teacher, and losing half of my monthly income was a shock. I've had to Hussle and advocate for myself to get in a place of growth instead of just surviving. I'm so glad to come across your program while I'm on summer layoff so I can focus on learning how to budget, save and use this method. If you've made it this far reading my story, thank you!

I moved from Arkansas to South Carolina 3 years ago and we paid someone to pack up our house, take it to SC, and then put it in our third floor apartment. That cost us roughly $3,300. I have talked to a few people about local moving now that we are back in Arkansas and they quoted us around $1,000. It honestly just depends on the business and how much you are moving. Also, thank you for sharing these videos because you have encouraged us to start cash saving and in less than a month, we have over $2,000 saved!

I’ve moved a couple of times with movers and it’s definitely the way to go! I requested quotes by calling the companies first and they were able to give me an estimate based on how many bedrooms etc. I had at the time. I’ve used them to put my things in storage and then to take my belongings out of storage and into a house. Also one company offered to wrap all my items and pack them which was an extra fee. I want to say I paid anywhere from $1000-$1300 adding in distance and depending on how many people they had to send. But moving out of a house with a whole family is going to have your girl budgeting a year in advance because from single to family of four is no joke!!! Good luck and continue to protect your peace because it’s priceless 💜

Oo, I feel that wanting to live alone. My husband and I are from different countries and could never stay in one place for a while so renting or buying a place would have been impractical. So for 5 years we've either been staying with his family or my family and it is exasperating. This year is the first time we could start planning, saving up, and preparing to get our own place. Not long-term and by no means luxury, but at least we will be on our own 🌼

Movers run around $500-$600 in DFW area. I use Groupon to get deals on the movers. It does depend on how many bedrooms (size of apartment) and also how long it will take, etc. I suggest giving a mover a call for an estimate based on your parameters. That will at least give you a good estimate for your budget. Hope this helps. I’m a fist time viewer and I’ve enjoyed it so far. Congratulations on your upcoming place!

I missed your last handful of videos! :( Gotta get back on track. I wish I had started saving for my move the way you are with a whole binder just for it, I've just been saving into my "moving" envelope lol but my 100 envelope challenge is specifically for my move so I think I'll have my bases covered with that. Starting fresh is definitely a good idea! I've moved cross country 3 times, this next move will be my fourth lol but looking at moving about a one bedroom apartment with couches, I've spent anywhere from $400 for just gas and small trailer to move with two vehicles, this next move I'm estimating about $3,000 to use a moving truck and just put my vehicle on a trailer behind. It really depends, but if you can figure out what is coming with and what's not and figure out if you need a moving truck or not, that's a great base for pricing, you never know if gas is going to be horrendous or not right off the bat. This post got long so I'll shut up after this lol but my biggest piece of advice as someone who's moved a lot and moved by myself, take it literally a step at a time, create a list of priorities, if something doesn't make the initial list, leave it alone and don't stress about it. Cover your big bases before your small bases, don't buy anything until you're moved in to avoid not having the space for something and buy slowly. Buy the priorities first, then slowly buy the other stuff in case a big expense comes up :) Good luck and you'll do just fine :)

I don’t know how much they’d be where you live but in Oklahoma, I moved a 2 bedroom apartment 5 miles away to a new apartment and the quotes I got were all in the $1000 range. Granted, I also had a queen sized bed and a baby crib along with a couch and love seat so it will hopefully be cheaper for you. I know you are saving to buy that stuff once you move and usually furniture stores deliver so that will help.
