June Garden Tour: Explore the Blossoming Beauty! (2024)

Welcome back, garden lovers! I'm Chip Jones, The Preppy Gardener, and I'm thrilled to take you on my first-ever June garden tour. Join me as I walk you through my garden here in northeast Oklahoma, just outside of Tulsa.
This season has been especially rewarding with the cooler, wetter spring weather helping everything thrive. In this video, I'll show you some of the exciting projects we've been working on and the stunning blooms that have flourished.
Highlights include:
An up-close look at the pollinator garden, buzzing with bumblebees on the beautiful bee balm.
A stroll through the butterfly garden, filled with charming old-fashioned plants.
Tips on creating a shade garden with hostas and other shade-loving plants.
I'll also share some of my favorite plants, like the large-leaved hosta and the playful eucalyptus, along with maintenance tips and plant care advice.

Those large pots flanking the bench are pure magic!!! Those mushrooms are icing on the cake. And Bitsey is the perfect garden companion. The color of the fence is so rich looking. I am tempted to paint mine, which has been white for years. I don't have enough shade for all those gorgeous hostas. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of your u tube journey. I see 50k subscribers easily! Your property is amazing.... but that courtyard is my dream come true. Can you spell the varigated plextranthus???? I am not sure I am hearing the correct pronunciation. Chip you have outdone yourself! Everything is so lovely, especially the shade garden, my favorite. I love the bench and the whimsical mushroom planters and the huge variety of hosta. The front landscaping with the blue salvia is a show stopper for sure. All I can say is Well Done. I love your court yard! I would love to have a few more trees in my yard so I could plant some Hostas, but my shaded areas get the hot afternoon sun. I have a lot of the Purple Heart and I find that it does wonderful in the morning sun and spreads like crazy. Also, I noticed that Bitsy is looking so relaxed. As you can tell, I just adore dogs!

Thank you so much! We use a Landscape and Grow planting mulch from Jemasco. We sell it at our nursery - it is a sand. Compost. Bark fines and soil mix. I really like having the mix instead of a straight bark mulch and my plants seem much happier as well. Thank you for watching

Those containers are concrete and stained and sold at the Garden Center where we work. You may be able to find something similar at your local garden center that sells larger containers 😊

Well - it can be a challenge but we spray a repellant from Deer Out. It works quite well, but nothing is perfect but it does the best of all the things we have tried.
