I'm getting my library reservations page ready for the wrap up!! Just bought Coco Mellors' first book, so hope the second is great. Like the sound of Speak Okinawa as well x

Great video!! I enjoyed the Will of the Many, came across it by accident on Libby Was fascinating but also a lot of info dump with very little pay off, but thats clearly because its a series so i rolled with it. Also loved The Book that wouldn't Burn and The Book that Broke the world series by Mark Lawrence. Incredible world building. And reading The Expanse series (sci fi) 🎉
The age of Magical overthinking is for sure one of my best of the year 💪🏻loved it

I haven’t sunk into a good fantasy in ages! I’m a picky fantasy reader, but tend to like the same kind of fantasy you do so will download a sample of The Will of the Many. Thanks for the suggestion-cheers!

The Alternatives has been on my radar for quite some time, I will look forward to hearing what you think of it. It's a real shame that you can't get the Katherena Vermette books in the UK - it's odd that so few Canadian books are available there. I do feel that pain because I have had to buy books from Blackwell's and have them shipped here from the UK but I don't think it costs as much as you paid - that seem a lot! You've added a good number of new titles to my TBR - thank you!

The Break was published in the UK (with such a boring cover) but the other haven't been. It really is tough to get hold of Canadian books here as so few are published and I think in general UK books are cheaper.

I was going to comment that you should read Bad Habit and then it popped up! Honestly, my favourite book of 2023 and the best book published here in Spain last year. Everyone I’ve recommended it to has loved it, my mother cried with the first chapter (it hits home) and I even bought and sent a copy to a friend from Madrid who hadn’t read it and just thanked me the other day for gifting her “one the best books I’ve read in my life”. They sold the translation rights to over 13 languages before it was published in Spain, I hope that they do her justice! Alana has a beautiful style, I hope Almodóvar turns it into a film. It’s not really a vignette kind of book but anyways I’m sure you’ll love it, it will be a modern classic in Spanish literature, for sure. Also, read it as a memoir!

I think I have recommended this before (you may have tried and DNF'd) but last year I read a book called The Cherry Robbers and I feel like you might really enjoy it! Kind of hard to explain but I would say it has a dual timeline, coming of age story. It's very descriptive (lots of food and setting and clothes the sisters are wearing) but not flowery. It's another one about four sisters and it was my favorite book last year!

You did :) It is on my tbr and I did borrow it from the library when you first recommended it but then didn't read it in time. I'll have to borrow it again :)

I don't know, Mercedes-you say you're not keen on humour in books but some of these books sound as if they've been written for a bet!
