Awesome garden area! And we have gave up on the weeds before in the past. 😂 Just let it all grow! We use to grow triple everything, one for us, one for deer, and one for the dang bugs 😂 Y'all have a great day

Your garden is really looking good. Love garden tours to see what else people are doing in their gardens. Great channel Chrissy you’re doing a great job. The weeds aren’t that bad compared to ours… my wife is weeding practically daily. Bloody pests. We all work so hard to produce and the bugs are so bad. Up here in Ontario the gypsy moth caterpillars have ruined our orchard and many other huge trees on the property. Grrrr. Very frustrating. We’re north of you guys so nothing is flowering yet, but hopefully soon. I spray a bit of dish soap and water for soft bodied insects such as aphids-works great but not for all bugs. See ya on the next one, Chad.

Hidden spring farm, thank you! I just sprayed with Dawn soap and water. It pushed off tons of big bugs and the tiny ones!! It’s overcast and cool right now. I’ll do it again early morning, fingers crossed!!! Thanks so much for the advice!!

Love the shirt!! 😉 Try planting white radishes and let them go to seed. And use seven dust on the base only. Take the bottom flowers off to keep the bees from going down there and getting in the seven dust. That will keep the Vine borers out too. Squash bugs go though a life cycle, so If you can't get rid of them NOW or do anything with what you have, replant them and the "laying" period will be over so you won't have to fight them, as long as you get rid of the eggs and babies now so they won't grow and stick around for the later plants.

We use First Saturday Lime for bug pressure. It’s okay to use around animals. We are on their monthly delivery service. Perhaps take some dirt out of the beds and add cardboard. Put your awesome compost on top. That should take care of weeds.

Garden Looks great. I’m 7a also. I rip out the old squash plants. Then I replant squash and cucumbers about now if I see squash bug damage. I also move my squash each year or skip a year. You have time before frost. I’d also tarp everywhere you are having a heavy weed load, after you pull your plants out. Leave it for at least 3 weeks. Then plant cover crops or fall crops.

Thank you Mama hen! I’ll put down black tarp on that back left corner bed tomorrow! I have seen and asked about Living Traditions black mesh years ago, it seems to work well!

I’ve been having a heck of a time with all the grass also! I just pick eggs off and as many of the bugs as I can find. You might start some more squash for the second wave of plantings

Last year my garden was plagued by squirrels..they ate more out of there than we did. I finally gave up..we tried everything to keep them out. This year I decided to just plant a few things in tubs..on my front porch where the squirrels are afraid to come. I live in a little town named Truth or Consequences, in southwest New Mexico. I'm new to your channel and I'm enjoying your videos😊

Sorry I haven’t commented lately, I’ve been taking a YT break. Your garden is looking great, weeds and all!!! I really wish the vegetable plants would grow like weeds!!!! Deep South Homestead uses Dr. Earth Golden Bloom to help combat the bugs. It’s a liquid phosphorus and Danny says it stinks to high heaven but he believes it’s keeping the bugs off his plants. I just squish bug eggs daily but some years are worse than others!
@ParagonRidgeRanch3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael! I have decided to succession plant in a different area and start over. The yellow squash's are doing ok, not completely killed yet, but no new flowers either. I will research what Deep South Uses and I was going to look and see if Perma Pastures Farm has any videos too :)

Did you put the black tarp stuff down before you added dirt? Is the dirt from your pastures? If so that’s where your weeds are coming from mostly. I gave up gardens bc our dirt was all clay so I said I wouldn’t have another one unless I could make raised beds with bought garden dirt.
