The definition of a "life" varies from person to person, and so someone may be living their own personal best life that does not align with your definition of a "life." I made a stupid amount of money trading crypto a few years ago and now I never have to work a job in my life if I don't want to, but I am pursuing mathematics, my passion, at a top college this fall because that is what would make me happiest. Someone with a different set of values in my shoes might buy a nice place in Monaco and party 24/7, but it's just not my thing.
