The problem is once he ults, there's not much escape. He can already slip in and out. So he's a counter to some mid lane picks using that easy kiting, then sustain from his ult. Milady changes might make him more meta as well.

Ive played a total of 200+ games of gao on both my accounts, i thinks im elligible to say, as a jungler gao, he cant carry your team in late game if your team is bad, his jungle item just doesnt do much late game, and without frenzy he just lack the extra oomph in his damage and survavibility. As a mid laner, hes really bad if you cant score a few "kill steals" , you will find it hard for him to catch up, but, his late game is totally on another level of beast compared to his jungle version i agree with you, dev shd probly make his skills do more damage to creep or.something, thats what he lacks severely atm So yeah, dont pick him if you dont have at least 1 initiator/tank in your lineup, and if theres a yaria/dolia/liam po or ming on enemy team, youre guaranteed to have a really hard time
