Thanks, I did enjoy putting that together last night! It’s always a challenge trying to find the right mixture of drama / comedy / ‘artistic’ stuff so I just chucked it all in and gave it a stir 😂

A good honest video showing a British Exotic Garden in winter. Similar temps here but I have a LOT more snow and ice. I like this time of year for showing the structure of the garden and assessing if there's a good ratio between hardy backbone and tender exotics. Looking at widening the paths is a good idea even if it is reducing planting space. Like you, having a long narrow garden brings it's challenges with path widths etc but also has the benefit of being able to partition the garden into different zones along it's length. Looking forward to your next video and the gardening year ahead.

I really enjoy your garden updates, I like the clever camera work too. Well done! A low of -5C is good, I'm in the south of UK and the lowest temp in my garden last week was -9.5C. I love this time of year when we're all planning new projects, I can't wait to see the fire pit.

Some interesting projects lined up for this year, George! Look forward to seeing the videos! Glad your temps haven’t been quite as bad as us. Had 4 whole days below zero and a full week below 2’c in Lancashire

Great footage as usual George, good to hear your ideas for 2025 I totally agree with lifting the rocks and I would do another gradual meander to the path , so the garden can be wider in places and tighter to fence in parts with well placed filler plants. George as you know it's all about creating illusions and mystery of where it all ends .🏝 😎

It's great to see your plans for the coming season while you're widening, I'm planning on reducing my grass area. We've been quite lucky up to the last week with temperatures. My dicksonia Antarcticas had been green until the last few days, and it made such a difference to the garden having them still as a beautiful focal point. Thank for sharing your garden and future plans. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. This is the beauty of winter. You get a chance to really think and plan where you want to change areas

Keep up the good work and producing these helpful and humorous videos. Your down to earth attitude is always appreciated by myself and the rest of your followers. Any trips to see Mark? 🌴🌴🌴

Happy new year George! In Estonia where im at, we’ve had a night of -8, days are usually above freezing, but all together around 2 feet of snow! Next weeks seem to look milder, hopefully all your plants make it! Looking forward to this years videos!

I am proper jelous of the bamboo tunnel and it has further enhanced my desire for the blue bamboo. I have a black bamboo that did flower a few years back, but pretty sure its well on the mend.

Dear George, i really admire your optimism, positivity, realism and energy! Thank you for the tour and the projects. Luckily, all the gorgeous bamboos and palm trees are safe. -5°C is pretty tough. All the best for you, your family and Jungle! Cheerio! 💚🙋‍♂🌴

Glad to see your new video. George have you ever done a video on just canopy, as i see creating a tropical canopy is a major part in creating both an environment for tropical plants and giving the correct effect. I would welcome your thoughts.

Hi George....another great Vid. I am in east Kent and we have seen -5/-6. Our garden is a nice size but faces north so no sun from December to the end of January. I planted a lot of small trachycarpus last year....hoping to get them established but man...just been outside and its like a freezer! Hopefully they will pull through

I just love the drama among gardeners over a mere -5°C!😅 Btw, your garden really lends itself for some amazing jungle path DIY projects! I look forward to seeing what you'll come up with.
@GeorgesJungleGarden
@GeorgesJungleGarden Күн бұрын
Haha yes, we all love a bit of drama! In all honesty 5°C is no real issue, 4 consecutive nights of it along with days just getting above freezing can start to be a bit challenging for the less than fully hardy exotics but as I tried to stress in the video, these are perfectly normal temperatures which we’ve experienced here in at least 3 of the 5 winters since I’ve been here. Back in 2010 we had -15/17 locally so if you think this was drama you better join us all in hoping nothing like that happens again! It’s all good though, I enjoyed seeing the garden in a hard frost the morning after I filmed this but equally I’m always wary when the forecast starts plummeting days before. Thanks, as you can probably tell, there’s no rush to ‘finish’ it but I’m enjoying planning and working on a bit at a time, there’ll be more info in my next two vids 😊

Fab video. Serious question but what about barriers near boundary fences?
@GeorgesJungleGarden
@GeorgesJungleGarden Күн бұрын
Thanks! Bamboo barrier? I’ll be putting them in here wherever I haven’t already and I’d absolutely recommend them for Phyllostachys and any running bamboo plants (whatever the labels tell you as there’s a lot of misinformation).

4:55 has he already paid the neighbours a visit or are they all behaving so far?
@GeorgesJungleGarden
@GeorgesJungleGarden 22 сағат бұрын
Haha, generally behaving but I'm not sure even a Tetrapanax would be able to push through the vegetation behind that fence anyway! To be honest, that small one has always struggled so I may end up swapping them out anyway...

Fantastic video George, I have been lucky so far, the night temps down to minus 6, my T rex has lost its leaves the first time in a good few years, also the fatsias look sick, but soon recover, when the temp goes up, looking forward to the fire pit episode. Fingers crossed for milder days and spring cannot come quick enough Cheers.
