In Wullie’s crypt came across this copy of an old VHS copy of an interview with the lovely Sally James way back in the glorious super hot summer of 1976 for the early morn ITV childrens Saturday Scene… taped on one of the very first Philips VCR's which were quite revoluntianary at the time ...
Sally is quite lovely and met her a few times in later years at social gatherings with her hubby.
This was a promo interview for a pretty lightweight first single for Elton’s Rocket Records where Sally pretty much nails the over involvement of “do it all artistes” like yours truly … looking back, pretty much confirms my discomfort with the solo spotlight and the quest to do other things...
christ we were so young ….

Junior, I have such fond memories of you and Dean from Marmalade, and also your solo hits, like Hallelujah Freedom. Not at all taking away from Dean, because he was EPIC, but when I heard your vocals, alongside Dean in Reflections, It was clear you have such strong vocal ability you could sing lead anytime you wanted and your contribution to Reflections, to me, was more significant than ordinary background vocals. Your harmonies were spot on! Thanks for all the good times and awesome music. All good wishes.

In 1972 I worked in the co op I answered the phone, it was someone called junior for Mrs Campbell the butcher

Brilliant upload. Subscribed. Thank you. Does come from April 1976 though as the single came out Friday 2nd April 1976. Saturday Scene was recorded on Fridays, so this could have maybes been broadcast the day after the release, Saturday 3rd April 1976.

Thanks .. I distinctly remember staying at the Inn on the Park on the Frid night as it was an early start for the show .. sure it was broadcast live on the Sat morning
