On September 19, 2009, Dos Santos faced Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103. During the third round Dos Santos dominated Cro Cop in the clinch with knee strikes and punches. A knee from the clinch and a right uppercut apparently caused damage to Mirko's left eye, causing him to submit verbally.

@@alpe6228 crocop wanted to retire after the 2006 gp but went to the ufc for the money. he went there overconfident, didn't train in the cage at all and paid the price for that. somewhere after the mizuno fight he had his first knee surgery, after that he wasnt the same. you can clearly see the lack of confidence after that.

Мирко тут уже к сожалению на глубоком спаде. Прошёл свой пик. Уже нет той скорости, комбинаций, и самый главный минус, что ушёл его быстрый, точный и смертоносный хайкик в голову. 💪👊так что Джуниору Дос Сантоса достался уже не Мирко, а бледная его копия. A lot of people not giving credit where credit is due. Let me preface this by saying that I am a huge cro cop fan. He & Fedor are my favorite fighters of all time. With that said, dos santos how he fights here beats this cro cop as well as whatever you consider to be “prime” cro cop. Dos santos fought well here. Exactly how others showed in the past to effectively beat cro cop ie. Push the action, keep cro cop on his heels, take the high kicks away from him etc. dos Santos did all that & did it well. He deserves more credit than he’s getting for all that in this thread

Casuals keep making reasons why Cro Cop was never that good lmfao. Mileage matters the most in the fighting industry and the man has tons of kickboxing fights aside from mma. He fought during the golden age of kickboxing and mma and fought the best there. His prime ended in 2006 and he was in the decline from there, lots of injuries. Casuals also like to insult pride by saying their fighters weren't that good when most of them became ufc champions when ufc bought their contracts lmfao or has beaten ufc champs from the dark ages.

Big difference for wanderlei crocop etc when they come to ufc from pride : no more soccer kick (wich was a special move for this fighter) Their prime was past In Japan they were like god (big crowd big respect) it play to be in good mindset for fighting. New rule (less agressif for striker) and more grappler friendly

Mirko, who was already far from his prime days, had also lowered his steroid dosage so that his body no longer had the hardness and athletic performance it once had. These were his last UFC fights. After this, he fought much better in K-1, Rizin and Glory. Even if he came in his Glory state, he would have beaten this guy. These were Mirko's worst times.

ДДС тогда было лет 27 это молодой возраст для тяжа, он после этого забрал титул у Кейна и ещё долго в топе находился, а Крокоп вообще спустя долгие годы после этого поединка вернулся в UFC и мочканул Гонзагу за обидное поражение хайкиком. Тут скорее период отсутствия мотивации у Мирко и проблемы с травмами накопились которые пришлось годами залечивать, чтобы начать снова выносить соперников.
