I visited a daughter out of town last weekend and filled my vintage train case with goodies to make some altered paperclips while away from home. My goal is to do something creative every day. A plus was that since I was limited in my materials, away from my studio, I didn’t waste time searching for all the available stuff in my art room!

Re: your fabric storage woes -- Granted, you probably have WAY more fabric than I do, but I had to get creative when a quilter friend of mine gifted me a huge bundle of her offcuts for journaling. I found that if you put fabric in gallon freezer bags, you can press the air out when you shut the bag, and then store them upright in a drawer or bin like you would folders in a file drawer. It makes finding what you're looking for SO much easier! I organize by color, and then in a few of my colors where I have a TON, I go further and keep different types/patterns together so the bags don't get too fat. So if I need green fabric for a journal, I flip through the drawer until I find my greens, open up and take out what I want, and then seal it back up again and slide it back into the drawer. If you lay your fabrics offset just slightly the first time you put them in the bag, you'll be able to see all the patterns in your bag without even opening it!

Morning Pam and all my Paper Outpost friends. Friday is my favorite day to wake up early and start my weekend with coffee and craft chat. I am truly enjoying all this fun with fabric I have some trouble with my signatures staying in tightly after I do the pamphlet stitch. Help! What can I do about my loose signatures?? PS. I was also not given patience when it was being given out I am extremely excited to see the fabric giveaway. What fun! Y’all have a great weekend!❤

Wow Fabric Bundle/scrap packs would be Awesome. I would be happy with either one paper or fabric as I could utilize both without any trouble. Still waiting for the fabric Bundles to drop again LOL. Glad you and Sunny have been well and hard at work cutting material and Crafting. :) All of us sewing have what we call scraps too. We used them for quilts just like are other materials. Depending on the quilter depends on how small of scraps they keep to use after a project. Love how the paperclip came out with you using the fabric this time. Awesome as always.

Morning Pam! I've been making junk journals for two years and, except for some of the covers, I never used fabric or lace in any of them. Can you imagine? But now, working on my first Little Golden Book, I'm finally using fabric clusters, ruffles and even lace! I know! So thanks for the videos on using fabric...as always, your videos seem to be there right when I need them. And even though I have quite a stash of fabrics built up (because I haven't used much in two years of collecting), I would love to win some of your scraps! Hugs and cheers to you and the fam from Denver CO!

Congrats to the winners! I love the scrappy fabric paperclips, need to make some. I try to store my fabric in bins, preferably clear. I fold the fabric to the meet the height of the box and put it in so that you can see folded edge of each piece and it is easier to pull out the one I want. And maybe even get it back in the same bin when done. You do have to have enough to fill the box or make a spacer to hold the fabric upright.

I found a good way to store my fabric which makes them easier to find. With larger pieces I wrap them around pieces of cardboard (I cut the flaps off of boxes) then I stack them upright so that I can see all the pieces and pull out what I want. I’ve put them in boxes or the fabric cubes. You can organize according to color, texture, types, etc!

Fabric storage? Here's my favorite. I have a five foot tall shoe storage rack, 3 feet wide. It has 10 bars on each of 2 sides. I drape all of my fat quarters on the bars. I have solids and batiks on one side and prints on the other. This makes a very colorful room divider and makes choosing fabric easy. Other than that I store fabrics by use. A bag of scraps for snippets, another for fabrics I intend to make journal covers from, another with strips for ruffles and page edgers, another with the right sizes for fabric flips, etc. Love the addition to your drawings, Pam. You are very generous.
