I could feel a difference in Christine & Colin in this video. It’s like they’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. They’re such a likeable couple. “Many hands make light work” for sure! I suspect that Jackson’s help made a big difference for this part of the declutter. Mary is marvellous! I appreciate how she jumps in with any task at hand. I’m loving this series April - all hail The Space Maker!

This couple really shows the difference between people that just have a whole lot of stuff and hoarders. This couple has a lot of things but they have no problem decluttering them. They don’t have to put a story to each item “my friend from third grade scribbled me this picture I have to keep it”, “there’s a drop left I need to keep it”, “ I haven’t used this in 20 years but I have to keep it”, “I got this from so and so, I need to keep it”. They don’t do any of that. They’re so practical, and in tune with each other.

I do not have a basement or an attic but I can see how much extra space for accumulation that can provide. This couple doesn’t have stuff for the heck of it. Real projects and if they are done…quick to let go. Definitely not hoarders because of their attitudes. I love how they communicate and respect each others styles. They give each other the space to function physically and emotionally.

Love them! I enjoy watching all their progress and wish them the absolute best! I do inwardly chuckle about the idea of reading much during maternity leave. I am sure that is some people's experience and hope Christine's goes exactly as she hopes... that said, lol not my experience at all. I did listen to a ton of podcasts, watch a ton of easy shows, and even enjoy some audiobooks. But you really can't read a physical book while calming a baby, breastfeeding, or holding a baby who won't sleep without being held. Above all, best wishes for a happy and healthy baby and mama and a peaceful postpartum experience!

What a wonderful multipurpose room. To have this big space to hold these different areas helps keeps the living spaces upstairs open. On a practical note all the projects that are for Christine to work on later is going to need hard. I know your time with each family has to be kept to a reasonable amount. But with this being a first baby I don’t think you guys really know the chaos that is about to happen. It’s a nice chaos but they will be so busy projects will have to take a back seat probably for a year. I haven’t been able to tell if Mary lives close to them. I hope so. My first child is 44 and I can still remember how much my life changed. Especially the first few months. Babies just take a lot of time and love and it’s all worth it. April im so glad and thankful you were able to come help them get their home organized. This is going to make bringing baby home so much more wonderful. And I hope you will let us know when the baby is born. Your you tube family is very invested in your families and wish them all the best.

At one point in our lives, we filled two houses, two sheds, and a garage full of stuff. It was all stuff we needed to remodel two houses, hubby rebuilt 15+ vehicles, hubby also had two side hustles that required specialty tools and then we got old and had to downsize. This project reminds me of that time. 😅👍

I love these kind of projects! The biggest key to getting started is to decide how each zone will work,then declutter,then organize like with like. A typical garage declutter starts with: let’s put a shoe rack and trash and recycle bins on one side of the door going into the house and the extra fridge and pantry shelf on the other. Come winter,the family only needs to take a few steps out in their robe and slippers to take care of all of these functions.🙌🏻

i can always see the big picture, it's actually fun to me, it's like a giant puzzle. i find it most helpful to group all like items together (categories) and have a place for everything. other than that, see things as dominos, you have to shift to make knock on effects as you solve the puzzle.
@LadyAurora1015 сағат бұрын

Now bc of ur kind thoughtful heart ur friend has all the vases she will probably need checked off the list and one less thing for them to have to think about getting for her wedding day. All of u did a really great job in this video. This space looks so much more open. I would love to meet u in person one day. I also would love to come korea some day and maybe have a meet n eat gal time out that be nice. Also if you are ever near ga in one of ur decluttering episodes maybe you would be open to meet for coffee or korean treat or any kind of food u love and enjoy. April-- You are so lucky to have a husband that helps out in your career sometimes. Please consider placing the artwork on the wood cart too, as on the floor right by the water tank, can get wet if a leak happens or floor drain clog. Same for home decor bins; place up on 2 milk crates to insure no water tears. Christine-- LOVE your new space for crafting, wrapping gifts soon, office storage, work from home. WOW are you lucky! Try thrifting a colorful quilt for a big wall and maybe even a 3 x 4 baby quilt for smaller wall space along with your fave artworks. The quilts will absorb sound and barrier the cold wall in winter and just be colorful!!! Collin-- you are also lucky to have that much space for tool storage and some indoor project space, too. By the time you read this, will congrats be due??? Stay healthy and peaceful sleeps.

The black bins/totes with yellow covers are nice and sturdy and stack well. They are great for tools and other heavy duty things. I label totes/bins so that I know the category and can get the one that has the item I need without having to open each one. Plus, the room looks neater because everything isn't visible at the same time, and you can still easily find your items.

I would put the office/craft area as the first room when you enter in the basement. So that when they have to work they do not have to walk pass all the other non-asthetical rooms. Maybe, but maybe not. I know conventional wisdom says to nap when the baby naps, but I never did. It was my free time to read or do whatever I wanted so long as I had a monitor nearby. I'd use the time to swim (checking the monitor constantly), do crafts, do some home projects including painting, reconfiguring closets, etc or just sitting and reading. I was glad I did because I was always thrilled when the baby woke up and ready to greet her and never groaned and sighed or rolled my eyes when she was ready to get up. I think because doing some things that were just for ME left me refreshed and "filled up" again so I could return to doing things for her and our family with a full tank. That was just MY experience. I realize that not it's not everyone's and not all babies or mothers are the same. I only mean to point out that she seems like a fairly energetic person who might feel more recharged after a crafting session than a nap so it may be a HUGE blessing very soon!!
