Today we brought in a 1997 Toyota Camry LE. Has a hair over 250k miles and supposedly a blown headgasket. These cars are pretty simple to work on, so simple im thinking of bringing this one home. Do a cheap headgasket kit and throwing it back up for sale. But as long as the car doesnt need any other major work after that it should be an easy flip. Let me know in the comments below what you think of toyota camrys, and if you would flip it ? Car can be purchased for 350$ and a headgasket kit ( with new timing belt and water pump) is right at 150$ Estimated resale value - the large dent- is somewhere around 1500$ in our area. Is it worth it ?

I have an 03 Camry with 91k on it and it runs good but I had to change the upper intake 72k that made out of plastic..Toyota gave me 250 toward it because they wanted 700 for the repair. I took the 250 and bought the parts on Ebay for 90 dollars and did it myself. It runs good but my 96 Taurus with went 325k before I put a timing chain in it. That was the old 3.0 Vulcan V6 and I gave it to the lady that cleans for my parents and she's had it 3 years now and it just turned over 400k. I always ran synthetic oil and that makes the biggest difference.

That door chime always seems to be a thing that modern Toyota Cars don't have today anymore like when the door's open and the key is in the ignition, you don't get that fast ringing and when you turn the key to the "on" position to ringing continues but with a slower ring. Man I miss those chimes. Heres and Example 6:14, the chime is ringing fast, but when Jay turns the key to the "on" position 6:17 the ring continues but with a slower ring to it

I also had a 2000 Camry, hand-me-down from my mom, who'd bought it new. Got totalled when I t-boned an idiot in a highway on-ramp after a snowstorm. I seriously thought about fixing it, but there was a foot of snow on the ground, it was February, I didn't have a garage, and the car wasn't (legally) drivable because all the front lights were wiped out.

You know one car that I've been thinking about lately that you're probably too young to remember? A Dodge Monaco. My parents owned an advertising agency while I was growing up and we were invited to a remote for a local TV station in Scranton, PA and there were car dealerships there. That was one of the cars that was on display and that was when they first came out. Had to have been 1989 or 1990...I HIGHLY doubt you'd have one of those out there, but Eagle had a version of that car too and I can't remember the name of it.

I have the same camry except its the v6 XLE and I have the exact same dent on the rear drivers side. Lady hit me out of her driveway going forward about a month after I bought it. Got the car for $900 because it leaks power steering but I've almost gotten that worked out now(O-rings on the pump and High Pressure line). And the insurance check from that lady was $800 so I got a solid daily driver for about $100

The 90-2001 Toyota Camry cars you can drive up to 3000,000 miles or more.If the car don’t have any blown pistons rings,bad oil pump leakage or very badly blown head gasket.If you can do it yourself fixing the car is worth keeping for another 1or 2 more years.Paying the auto garage to do all that than it not worth it.

Ah, the average camry with a huge rear quarter dent. 99% of the ones I've seen have either minor or major rear quarter dents and/or rust. It's funny...mine has 156K on it and has no dents in the rear quarter other than a few tiny dings that I can pull out. Very surprised no CEL too, mine has one for a dirty censor that has been replaced twice...lol. Almost all the ones I've seen over 200K have a CEL on for something stupid. And on that dent, I know a guy out here in Ohio (or at least I know a guy who knows a guy) who'd do it in the 500 range.
@MXguy95

Im not even concerned with the quarter panel dent. Its a cheap car, and someones just going to look at it as something with four wheels. Cold AC and decent gas mileage. The resale value on these camrys around here is ridiculous.
