As a kid back in the early 60s, loved to go through the Massachusetts junk yards with my dad. The cars were primo and many were drivable. Thanks for the video ! Enjoyed the walk with you guys.

Skeptical Mechanics ya man, one time there was a junkyard In mass that was closing down maybe 1962 ,63, . My brother and I went looking around after it closed and in the office there was racks of 30s and 40s chrome grilles for all brands of US cars still in the original boxes, just getting scrapped out. Of course we were only 9 and 10 so no use to us. 🤪

Children that do not notice the real treasures sitting here and there and get all excited over 75-79 nova's instead. Being up in Canada this is a place with a few cars that can be put together and driven again but the spoiled children from the dry south can not be expected to see what projects can be saved with work. Grandpa cars are good for the big engines in them to put in the 67-69 Firebirds and Camaro's they walked right past or the 59 Elcamino's. Hate the fact of all those manual transmissions sitting out in the rain and rusting. Would love to read the tags on those carbs on the floor. Bet there were a few worth a few hundred bucks. Oh well what can one expect from the Nintendo generation? Still i enjoyed watching all the stuff they missed.

Could be a Montego
@andyjohnson65483 жыл бұрын
@@Statimtek Yes it could also be a Montego depending on the trim package, and looking at that one again it does look like a Montego cause I don't see a front spoiler. And the trunk cover isn't there to show if it ever had a rear spoiler. But the Cougar was a whole different car and smaller car up to 1973 then 74 they got bigger. There's a lot of good old cars in that junkyard that can go back on the road. 👍👍
@Statimtek3 жыл бұрын
@@andyjohnson6548 Yes Andy, I acknowledge the Cougar and the Torino/Montego are different cars. The Mustang/ Cougars were sister cars and classified as Pony Cars, whereas the Torino and its sister car, the Montego were more mid sized cars. Different platform, different body style. The Cyclone and Cyclone Spoilers were performance versions of the Montego, like the Olds 442 was a performance version of the Cutlass and The GTO was a performance version of the Lemans.

Problem with chrome on the fifties cars is they tend to pit as they were made out of pot metal, so if you find super clean chrome on a car of that era, you are lucky.

It's a shame that those cars have left to recall pieces from them. If you think about, in the era of most of these, they were normal, and was treated as garbage after a crush or an engine problem. But others mus be restored, because they are stunning and piece of art and history. I regret not have enough money to save one of these. People there should go to gather as much pieces as they can like bumpers, lights, steering wheels, dashborads, etc, to avoid they go to the crusher. Maybe for you there's ones that are more interesting than others, but for me, all are interesting and beautiful. A pitty. I have doubts about if the owner knows all the stuff here. Maybe someone came there asking for a piece and the owner says that there's no way , and rest hidden among all the scrap.

The car you thought was a "Cougar" is actually a Cyclone!! I have only ever seen TWO in my whole life....so they are NOT really a "wildly popular" car and they are actually quite rare as they came out (with that body style) RIGHT AT the beginning of the 1970s, even though the Mercury Cyclone had been a "label" for a couple of years by then!!! Basically it was the Mercury's answer the the Ford Cobra Jet of 1970 and 1971 and the Ford Torino GT from the same time period!!
@skepticalmechanics173 жыл бұрын
Greg Benwell Wow thanks for the info! We try to give you guys accurate information but its hard not growing up on that era😅 i love how back in the day there was many cars manufacturers build it wasent just the mustang bing build it was the torino, cyclone, cougar!
