Another one knocked outta the park.....I owned a Juno-60 and 106.........I put a few patches to the test from those times and genres and to say it put a smile on my face is wonderful....I started out in venues like a mini Howard Jones at 15yrs of age playing pubs and clubs until releasing my 1st album which had a Roland JD-800 and D-70 I programmed for the entire album.......Thank You Roland family...... for the amazing instruments and tools both past and present....5 stars from me*****I have a new album out soon....it has little bit more Roland in it to....Cheers :-)

No point really, we know what these emulations sound like, its abut as good as its going to get for some time and easily good enough to work with in a track. The originals still have the edge but for most music you dont need it.

I feel the same, also being a JD-XA owner - the LEDs are nice but the labeling leaves something to be desired. Fortunately I probably won't be using the Zenology Juno-106 much as I prefer a thicker sound, such as what you can get out of the Zenology JX-8P (especially when you layer two instances to make a JX-10)

Great work behind the Zenology platform. Probably some sounds are thin because we don’t have the right dacs. I think Roland hw instruments have some analog circuits not available also in the modern audio boards. To make the Zenology sounds fat and punchy I have to add a compressor an exciter and an eq. This is the analog behavior we don’t have within our audio devices. For example Diva or Re-Pro 1 sound bigger an fatter compared to the Zenology va analog presets because they have some punchy effects (not exposed) simulating the analog output.

Totally agree that Zenology lacks punch and fatness for the reasons you say. It should sound fat and punchy out of the box.

Not noticed lack of punchiness but I'm using a roland quad capture which has good low end. Diva sound good but never really liked it as much as the Roland cloud stuff. Repro is nice though but to be fair the effects are already built in.

@@rolandglobal Thks yep i'm on it , will try to review those really deserves more lights for real , small question : is there a way to edit category when writing a presets , didn't managed to get it (can edit name and where to write but no editing of category ) , also request : 1) Drums : please multi outs (16 or 12 outputs) 2) Arepggiator or step squencer for zen pro and expansions 3) Option to get a Whole Zen expansions as partial 4) 2 MFX for zenology pro and expansions . So fare really pleased with the direction you guyz have taken , a pure pleasure to use it , and it's the key !! inspiration and fun on the menu , with always usuable great results (pricelless)

How do you even install and use Zenology? I've installed it from roland cloud manager, but I can't see any vst, no folders on my computer, it says it's installed in the unistall manager, but can't see shit... I end up clicking it in the manager from the library and it just takes me to the software page...

Is there an arpegiator? The original hardware had an arpegiator... I can't find the arp in zenology? You keep "running a sequence". But I assume they're recorded midi loops. I want an arp I can sync with my DAW.

The older brothers, Juno 6 and Juno 60 had much faster attack envelope which gave them a great clicky attack. Due to the difference, 106 has always been the least preferred among the three despite the MIDI capability. Thanks to being a software, now you can have it all

Owning the 60, I guess it's more difficult for them to clone that warm, organic sound. Easier to clone the 106, which has a cleaner (but good) sound

They may want to create another similar VST, they already did in hardware (boutique) version. There are so many similar JV/XV plugins in cloud. It could be just one plugin with all the wavesforms from base maschine and expansions.

It's all well and good coming out with these products, but I'm going to say this to all who read this and I no longer care. Roland as a manufacturer has deliberately ignored the requests of blind and visually impaired musicians, producers, etc, for accessibility support for both software and hardware. If anyone from Roland reads this, certain departments have been sent emails from e officially and you have ignored them. You've been offered a unique opportunity and a chance to improve the lives of musicians with sight impairments or blindness ever since you decided to go "touch screen based" and also since the launch of the "Roland Cloud", but you went by "design by committee" and have ignored all requests and supporting documentation, etc to make a difference. You're loosing customers just to feed platinum record label producers dripping with enough gold to pay off the world debt twice over :) so, please, fix this, sooner rather than later. Your new fantom is a sexy instrument, I'd love to own and use one, but you prevented me from even doing that, why? touch screen centres around all work done on the instrument, no easy way of navigation, etc, not even external software to connect to a mac running VoiceOver as a screen reader, nothing. so you lost customers like me. If you're a member of Roland staff, reply to this message.

This is pre supplied from new with jup x and xm. Not compatible with the others, fantom etc. Its a software instrument, not an expansion.

The single mfx needs to be sorted ASAP. Combined or dual mfx don't cut it, a full effects chain is needed. Sythmaster One destroys Zenology when it comes to a fat lovely sound as does the System 8 plugin Roland makes itself.

When you install the Zenology JX-8P, remember to try layering two instances of it in your DAW to make a JX-10 (Super JX). I recommend selecting preset 44 in one and 77 in the other to showcase its power

Emulations have their place, I have analog gear and there isn't always a great big difference between the two, a lot of the time you have to add effects to make analog sound good.

I've used Zenology for three months, it's a kitchen sink full of lots of different sounds but is all honesty I can't put my finger on it but so far I've not found something truly inspiring. The actual older plugin emulations (non Zenology) of the Juno and Jupiter sound so much better than these new model expansion synths within Zenology. The System 8 is a thing of beauty and always inspires me. Roland should never have dropped Aria Zenology just seems to lack vibe and that organic sound. Also the way it handles the built effect is just a bit limited and no reverb yet?! Really? These model expansions just don't sound as good as the plug outs of the Juno and Jupiter. The new ui is so dumbed down and limited. If the other plugins were cheaper I'd buy them in a heartbeat, gets my goat that the System 8, original Juno and Jupiter are only included in the $20 tier which I feel is just too much to justify.

It's worth the cash, not worth scrimping or arguing about it as life is too short. You will get a lot more productivity for a bit more, I had Pro, it was cool but even though I have a system8 still wanted the convenience of multiple instances so gave in and went ultimate.. I think zenology is great my only gripe is there should be more presets on the models but pro is coming out soon.

And that's because the Jupiter x and xm come already loaded with these "expansion models " since first release. How about other "compatible zencore synths"? Nope, there aren't any. Fantom? Nope, not compatible. Mc series? Nope. Rd88 Stage piano? Nope etc. Ok! Welcome to the world of roland fantom (haha) marketing which is all about giving the impression that you're gonna get something that isn't actually true and hiding real information or not giving it at all. So, the zencore juno 106 expansion is NOT available for any hardware that wasn't supplied with it since new. So this is not actually an expansion at all. Its a software instrument on the roland cloud platform. Nothing else. Shame.
