I've often wondered. Now I know. Some of the Mulberry modules were floated from Port Talbot. On the Morfa Beach side of the tidal harbour, there are some Mulberry remains. What a shame LV 72 is not yet restored. Many thanks for this informative video.

She is going to be there in station for years to come even after I’m long gone but I do see her every day I travel on the M4 she makes me smile and a little sad because she has been left and well the lady deserves something more than just left rotting away Nice one Chris

Hopefully she’ll get a second life in some shape or form, it’s just a real shame that she’s rotting at such a rapid rate. Thanks so much for watching this.

Very interesting, knew a lady who had 2 uncles on the vessel at the landings, long gone now. The days of manned vessels, also long gone. That's progress for you.
@whatchrisdoes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Catherine and for watching the film. Fascinating that you have a link to the ship and its time at the landings. You're right, progress in technology does not always go hand in hand with progress for humanity. Diolch eto!

When she was stationed at the English and Welsh grounds men from my village would row down at Christmas to give the crew cakes and food…they would have a few drinks before rowing back on the next tide to Pill, Somerset.. one of them is still alive and nearly 100 and the boat is also still with us which they rowed down in! I work with one of his sons so I’ll ask him to make sure I’ve got it correct.

Many thanks for this. Such a wonderful insight into the life of the ship and the people around it. Diolch yn fawr!

Excellent production. Thank you for making and sharing this film. Did these ships have any crew?
@whatchrisdoes3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching this. I believe the ships had a maximum of five crew at one time. Must be quite daunting to be a tow boat in the middle of the sea with no method of getting anywhere yourself. Happy New Year!

You are welcome, Chris. Thank You for responding. I had wondered about what that would be like. Especially at night. I have been studying WW II on and off since the fifth grade. There are an endless number of stories, and lessons from those stories to learn. Thank you for adding to my lessons. Happy New Year to you as well!

And I remember her well being towed up the river in 1973

What a unique and quite a sad experience to see her on what was probably her last ever journey.
