Looking back through this, it is interesting to note how situations of a bad Mercury but a decent Jupiter can play out, especially in my case. I was always the kid in class who would stay after school to chat with teachers about philosophy, past lives, and even political ideologies. I even tried reading a teachers chart once during like lunch. I’d give them Starbucks gift cards, etc. I just loved school & teachers, but when it came to doing work on my own with no guidance, organizing my schoolwork, etc, I hated it & legit failed classes because of such. Essentially, I was a bad student but I had amazing teachers. Really interesting to me to see how the dichotomy played out in my life. I lowkey feel the same now too tho. You are legit cool af with your explanations but I do struggle with formulating my own thoughts on these topics without going too far off topic 🤪

Good observation. It’s the same for me. I have always had good teachers and have always been close with them throughout any education. Jupiter casts a 98% aspect on my Mercury. My ability to learn is alright, but it’s not as good as my affinity for getting along with teachers.

Hello Vic, been following your other videos lately, I think what you said about Jupiter here regarding husband might be misinterpreted. In Hindi the suffix सुख: (sukh) if attached with words like संतान (Children), संपत्ति(wealth) makes words संतान-सुख, संपत्ति-सुख respectively which also means getting of children or getting of wealth and happiness associated to it. It might apply to the word dhavasukh (धवासुख:) which might mean getting of husband and happiness associated with it. Just my opinion Your work on vedic astrology is truly tremendous. Thank you Saurya Ji. Here are some comments. 1) Technically सुख is not a suffix. It is a word. It can form compounds. 2) The Phaladīpikā is written in Sanskrit, not Hindi. The merit of analyzing it through Hindi usage is uncertain. 3) The compound संतान-सुख means "Family's Happiness". Bearing children brings happiness to the family, therefore it can be used in that connotation. (Look up संतान in a Sanskrit dictionary, you will see clearly that it does mean children, it means dynasty, lineage, etc.) 4) I did not find संपत्ति-सुख, used in the way you described, even in Hindi. So in conclusion - सुख never means "means of getting." It means happiness. So we cannot entertain the idea that धवसुख means "mean of getting a husband." धवसुख simply means "Happiness" and especially, "Enduring / long-term happiness" (श्रेय). Even if we stretch to a modern connotation of धव, the term means "pleasing the husband."

Truth is to see things as they are. Facts. But more important than the truthh is how you respond to the truth - that's Wisdom. Wisdom is contextual , there is an intent / objective / vision element to it. Two different people can look at the same truth but apply wisdom differently and conclude differently. However the highest of wisdom is one which encompasses the essence of things in its totality. Where every aspect of dimension are covered. In my opinion there are 3 dimensions to all actions to be credible. First - knowing the TRUTH (see things as they are), Second is WISDOM (your response to the truth), and third is SERVITUDE (both Truth and Wisdom are empowering and can be used in a constructive or destructive ways e.g. nuclear energy can be used to create Electricity or Nuclear Bomb. So without SERVITUDE (your intention) you might cause harm than good. So if we consider all the 3 dimensions in the same order , then only your actions will be credible. (Otherwise you just got luck to get a good outcome). 😊

There are many words for husband. Pati (Protector), Bhartri (Maintainer), Dhaari (Upholder), even Kamitri (lover) and Vallabha (sweetheart). And just to clarify - vidhava / widhava means "widow" not husband. Since the window has lost her means of support, she is called vidhava (lit. "without firmness"). What the nirukti dictionary did was say that we can remove the prefix and use Dhava to mean husband. Which is linguistically fine. It just is a later connotation and probably not the one used in this text - which is probably borrowd by mantreshwar (or at least most of the phrases) from much older authorities (he stated this in the beginning of the book).

I have a friend who’s Jupiter is Rx in Cancer in the 5th house trining a first house Pisces stellium and a ninth house moon and Mars in Scorpio. She has none of the qualities of Jupiter described here, and is mostly interested in gossip and drinking. For her it seems to reflect only an increase in lovers and a desire for partying and fun, but no indication of wisdom gained from good teachers. If a planet is in good dignity but the traits are not reflected in life, is this just a question of a missed opportunity, or would there be a debilitation from somewhere (that I’m not seeing)? Or can Jupiter also simply reflect a Bon vivant?

How can you say she has no virtue. Everyone has some type of virtue, etc. Maybe hers is bad. Then Jupiter will describe it as such. 1) Relevant houses and signs have to agree. For example, if jupiter is lovely but the 9th house a disaster, we should not expect good teachers, morals etc. 2) The retrogression in exaltation is a red flag. 3) Influences on Jupiter have to be considered. Aspects, conjunction, amsha and avastha should be accounted for before interpreting what happens to Jupiter's symbolism.
