I'll be honest. I've been a classical musician and a metalhead for most of my life. I came in here kind of ready to be super judgmental in defense of Holst and metal renditions. No defense needed. Especially after hearing the ballad-style interpretation of my favorite movement. Stay metal! \m/

Heavy Metal comes from classical music. I always direct people to Vivaldi the four seasons (winter in particular). It's a good example.

When the melody takes off at 4:20, man it literally generates LIFT. Again dude, way to make it absolutely soar.
@qweuio3 жыл бұрын
Also, what I really love about your arrangements is that you never water down. Every note I hear in the original, you just perfectly recreate in your versions. The thing is I've watched so many covers of classical music so far that I always expect some missing notes, wrong harmonies etc... but not yours. You never disappoint, because I can see that you actually took (a hell of) time to study the score... Respect.
@JoeParrish3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that is always my aim when doing these arrangements and I do immerse myself in the details of the score, so I'm pleased it doesn't go unnoticed
@jamatg Жыл бұрын
I immediately realized this as well! I do some arrangements myself (though I don't publish them) and I also always try to pick up the original harmonies, catch all the (important) notes etc. which often is really difficult. So I do have a lot of respect for you to manage this in such a way!

Very, very good indeed. Your attention to detail is very impressive. Whilst others are suggesting different compositions, I would love to hear a continuation of the Planets Suite. Not only do you play them extraordinarily well (speaking as a guitarist of many years and quite envious!), but it would make an awesome album. However, appreciate that it would take a lot of time and effort. Congrats on one of the best 'projects' on KZbin - and I have seen a huge quantity of them. Excellent job!

Incredible cover - this shows such a deep understanding and respect for the source material. I've often though of Mars as an early example of proto-metal in classical music, but you've demonstrated that even the lighter and happier movements from 'Planets' are also displaying musical choices which have later been adopted by more extreme genres. Again, I fucking love this cover, well done dude
