Incredible video! Reminds me of the Rubix cube. I made an amateur DIY mistake of not remembering the gearbox position (7:07) relative to the casing when taking it out. I thought each side looked the same either way! In the end, an error 8 or when doing the second test, the lower piston would pop out. Also for me, in order to know if the lower piston was pushed down enough, I had to take out all 3 (gearbox, piston cup, piston) out and test for the correct end position.

Superbly clear detailed instructions here. Thanks very much. Needed to deep clean and lubricate my elderly Jura F9 (circa 2003) that was struggling to brew. Your tutorial made it a snap. For anyone else that might run into the problem, my lower piston separated into two parts during the process - an upper (o-ring disc) and a lower (gear piston). The two pieces on my model are interlocked by a simple rectangular plastic fitting but were otherwise undamaged. I suspect age and pressure eventually worked them apart but a few drops of superglue and a day’s curing re-bonded them perfectly. This weakness might have been engineered out of newer models but don’t panic if it comes out as separate pieces. Good luck everyone and thanks again Jura-parts!

Thank you! Made a complex task very approachable. Had to stop and rewind a bunch of times during the rebuild, but had success on the first try. My C9 is working just as well as it did when I bought it over 8 years ago. A real money saver.

Thank you for being the only person to properly explain the importance of the bottom piston alignment process. This issue has been driving me (i.e. top of piston catching on brew group housing) mad until I watched your video. Great work!

An excellent and thorough video, good job! A few caveats: At 3:27 and 4:14, IMMEDIATELY remove the bushings (bearings) from the pins the moment you take the arms off, so you don't lose them. At 4:35 you flipped the brew group over without having removed the bushing and at 4:45 when you flipped it back that bushing was gone. It fell off, and I suppose at some point you retrieved it off the table. Those bushings can easily be lost if you don't take them off the moment they are exposed. At 4:56 be careful that the circlips don't fly across the room if you pull them off with something other than a needle nose. For example if you remove them with an awl or a screwdriver, they have high spring tension and can go flying. Control them, like he did here. At 23:56 when you replace the circlips push them firmly on and control them: if you slip with your finger or tool, they are under strong spring pressure and can fly across the room. Regarding Error code 8, before disassembling each bit of the brewer, it did a try to simply but it in its initial position after removing just the brewer and thoroughly cleaning up under the tap. Initial position is when the plastic blade is all the way down. I did not do it properly the 1st time I cleaned it up and this caused the problem. Now the machine works like new.

Thank you for a great video, followed your instructions and my Jura J9 is back in service after the Error 8. One comment at 15:50 mins into the video you show how to reassemble the drain value but you forgot a part. I assembled the machine and then discovered the part i had overlooked, went back to your video and see you skipped this part in the reassembly, no big deal i removed the brew group again and added it in the drain valve assembly. Thanks again!

Looks like the o-rings for the drain valve didn't go back in. Still, really good tutorial.

Thanks you for taking the time to make this video. Spent so much time on it until I found your video, brew group didn't return to home position (piston was sticking out a little) Like you said the piston all the way down is critical when you putting it together! Thank you for that, my machine works great after the rebuild

Thank you for your videos! Sooo, my Jura ENA 8 is "spitting" whenever I make coffee or hot water. It sputters and I have opened up the side and cleaned out the excess coffee grounds plus used the Jura cleaning capsules to try and make this go away. Awy help on how to fix this problem is greatly appreciated!!! It's driving me crazy!

I have an issue with Drainage Valve. The Drainage Valve is engaged immediately no mater what I do, rinse or make coffee. (this issue happened before I began to do the maintenance). I reassembled brew group twice and lower piston in the brew group is installed correctly, everything is clean, new o-rings installed but problem is not fixed. What other reason could cause Drainage Valve to drain all water?

Any good videos for what to do once the brew group is reassembled and placed back in the Jura? I replaced the brew group and want to run it to see if it works before putting all the panels back together. But the system says to open tap and then filling system. When it says shut tap, I do so but it goes back to saying open tap. Any suggestions?

I no longer have error. But my rinse function is not working and water is instead accumulating in the tray. My espresso and coffee functions are working. Why isn't the rinse function dispensing water correctly?

Hi, I see the video description does say “F8”, so I assume the information is correct, is it? I read somewhere that the brew unit cannot be removed from the Jura Impressa F8. My unit isn’t working, so I’ve got nothing to lose🤞🏻 Thanks

I can understand why you mention having to reset the piston. I am on my fourth or fifth try now. Maybe tomorrow. I will get it. By the way the lighting in this video is awful. .
