The screw in purge valve was standard equipment on pelican cases of that era, later models had a similar looking automatic purge valve. The handles did become folding as you pointed out. The latch design also changed the later latches being chubbier but much easier to open. The egg foam and pick n pluck foam is available direct from pelican stockist but is suprisingly expensive. Nice build though.

so bummed, I remembered the house I bought (built in 1976) had a fire extinguisher, checked downstairs and mine is the black letter version from around 2008 (says the QC signature). I swore it had some blue to it, but maybe I have an extra floating around. Would be so awesome if it was this one.

o you know if the correct King Pelican 1600 is 22" X 18" X 8" or 24.25 x 19.43 x 8.68"? I have seen vintage ones being described in both dimentions I also noticed when you pull the one Orion road flare out of the case there is one more under there, do you see this in the movie too? Thank you for this very imformative video!
