EDIT ( 18:35 ) - On closer inspection the iris in the eyes are actually round!, and not an almond shaped slit like I said in the video. The reason I was mistaken was because the curve in the transparent yellow plastic distorts them to make them look more like cat like slits...

I just picked mine up at Target. Didn’t even know this existed until today. Seen it on the shelf and knew I had to have it. I’ve seen a some people are being to nitpicking and small things. I think this figure is an amazing addition and sculpt. The paint and detail is far superior than most of the other inexpensive dinos rex figures has came out with.

I nit pick quite a bit in this video to be honest haha, but that's kinda my job as someone reviewing this figure... I still stand by my nitpicks, but I totally agree that regardless this figure is awesome and one of the best JP Rex's out there. thanks for your comment and checking out the video ! :)

I have the 2022 Hammond collection tyrannosaurus Rex looks real and the pupils move back and forth and she's gorgeous and mattel did good job on the skin textures and coloration it's worth the price and the tyrannosaurus rex is absolutely beautiful art on the box and the black is absolutely beautiful art on the edge of the Jurassic Park box and I can't wait till Mattel makes a Hammond collection spinosaurus soon in the future

I never got why people complain on Mattel for the feet or teeth, I get it sometimes its way to over sized but this is Mattel which means they don’t make 100% accurate figures, for christ sake they make Barbie’s so don’t expect SH Monsterarts quality because at the end of the day it’s a toy company not a collector company

Don't get me wrong, I get where you're coming from and I do really like the figure as is. In reality it's not that big a deal, but I still think they're fair criticisms to make in a review like this. Especially for a figure aimed at collectors, that at least in my part of the world, costs almost $100 bucks. I think it's a bigger issue for me personally because I genuinely have been on the search for a definitive JP Rexy figure for my collection for years now... and it gets more and more easy to get frustrated by details when you start to accumulate figures and each one seems off by just enough of a margin that you're not satisfied. I'm genuinely not expecting S.H. MonsterArts quality nor am I asking for any major overhaul in quality from them, but rather, I'm looking at what Mattel have accomplished with the rest of the figure and formulating my hopes/expectations based on that. In other words, I'd be perfectly happy with this figure were it made with the same overall "quality" of detail, build and paint, however had some minor tweaks to the design. To put concisely, I wouldn't be giving you guys an honest review if I didn't bring it up... anyhows, as always thanks heaps for the comment and checking out the video !

I have always been a stickler growing up about toys getting loose. I think I would prefer a ratcheting affect for every posable area and simply less articulation in other areas.

yeah it sucks when they do get loose... ratcheting joints are great for parts like legs

I do think some of the other Rex (even larger ones like the Stomp and Escape have better feet. With that said, it is hard to make a Rex balance. Because even though they have large tails, it is not enough to balance out the weight of the front. Normally a Rex would have their leg muscles do the work of balancing the rest.
@ASkywalker91

The earlier figures from Mattel actually used digital assets from the films (at least Fallen Kingdom), and then were altered/tweaked to create the final sculpts IIRC

I'm not surprised, their sculpts always have been surprisingly movie accurate
@planetdee3587

The scale is 19.2. So if you take a 3.75 inch figure and x19.2 and then ÷12, you get 6 (ft). Based on this math the HC Rex at 8 inches tall and 25 inches long, is 12.8 ft tall and 40 ft long.

Thrash and devour Rexy face sculpt is actually slightly inspired by the Buck T. Rex animatronic from The Lost World and JP3. If you look it up, especially JP3 T.Rex animatronic snout, you can see clear inspiration. So yeah, it is somewhat based on Stan Winston animatronic, but not from original Jurassic Park. And Hammond Collection Rexy based mostly on CGI model in original JP and it’s appearance in Jurassic World movies

@Uselessmouth12
@Uselessmouth12 2 жыл бұрын
@@atomicvinylreviews3420 Try it and you will be surprised. Actually the reason why you think Hammond Collection Rexy’s overall face structure is off, that’s because Mattel’s T. Rex toys are not based on animatronic Rexes and mostly use ILM digital model which is different from animatronic Rexy in some ways. Apparently they lost original Stan Winston maquette castings and had to partially re-create Rexy almost from scratch in Jurassic World

@@Uselessmouth12 Interesting, and that's a good point. Actually, in part of the review that I cut out during editing, I did mention that this figure looks closer to the CG version of the Rex than the animatronic. to be honest, It might just be the paint that's throwing it off for me, but the head still looks a bit off even for the CG model from the film

So from viewing this figure (and I will compare with the Stomp and Escape because it is the one I have) I have some gripes. The scaling seems to be very well but I think this creates issues with articulation for balancing. Less articulation sometimes means stiffer joints so you can then make the feet smaller. I like the feet better on the SnE. And though the SnE is not as correct in full size vs the movie (scaling to 12.8 ft tall and 33.6 ft long), the feet are smaller and the stance is really nice placing the center of gravity (bottom belly) much lower (right at her knees). HC rex seems to have to stand tall because if his knees are bent, the articulation with give under the weight. This Rex is great for posing but I think will not hold up to heavy play. My kids Spino will nolonger stand up because it is so loose. SnE rex may have mechanical legs but they will never get loose and stop holding him up. And the knee joints allow for temporary articulation. I am just saying this model is the beginning of the perfect evolution.

The Hammond Collection Tyrannosaurus Rex would be much better with especially the smaller and shorter feet than the head (the feet 1/3 shorter would be enough). I so will want Mattel would also do Hammond Collection Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex with especially the smaller and shorter feet than the head (the feet 1/3 shorter than the head), and the exact location of the scars : those on the right, on the muzzle, and those on the left especially at the level of the shoulder.
