It didn't need to be larger cause allosaurus has been proven to hunt in small groups so they could take down large prey fairly easy. While lone allos would take down weak prey or scavenge. Now if it was made to be a strict lone hunter (scavenging excluded) it would maybe have been bigger to give it a fair opportunity

We don’t know how they hunted. We can only assume that they hunted in small packs, but even that could be wrong
