Jurassic World VelociCoaster Update - Daytime Testing, Lighting and Train Details

/ themeparkstop Universal Orlando has shared official images of the trains for the VelociCoaster, plus daytime testing has begun! Let's check out the official train designs, testing footage, lighting tests and more in today's news update.
Reaching speeds up to 70 mph and a max height of 155 feet, the VelociCoaster will be Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster when it opens by next summer. It has a track length of more than 4,700 feet and will feature a total of 12 seconds of airtime.

I wish it had over the shoulder restraints because it looks super fun, themed, and I would absolutely love to ride it, but the lap bar makes me anxious. It would be cool to see a coaster car with some rows having lap bar restraints and some with over the shoulder.

@N S it is, these lap bars are the kind that you can go upside on, it could literally hang you upside down and you won’t fall off. They’re a lot of coaster companies now that have lap bars that can safely take you upside down.

@N S if you look into those accidents they’re all ride operators error. One specificity with the New Texas Giant where the lap bar didn’t go down far enough and it wasn’t clear to go and the ride operator sent it out anyways. But if they were really unsafe we’d have a lot more accidents than what had happened. They’re a ton of lap bar coasters all over the world that go upside down with no problems at all.

@N S They fall off because the rider is so obese that instead of resting on the LAP it's resting on their abdomen which would make the rider fall out. The operator should have noticed and removed that individual

I can't help but doubt that this will soft open early. Considering the issues that Hagrid's had, I anticipate that more time will be taken to let the issues be worked out. In addition, because of uncertainty about when a vaccine will be available, I think Universal might wait for summer, hoping that they can go back to full capacity to take advantage of the opening.

I imagine there won’t even be half the issues Hagrids had. No drop tracks, 5 less launches, no backwards section, and no high speed transfer track. Plus they’re probably gonna keep testing for the following months before it opens

I planned a trip to Orlando in February just to ride SEAS new coasters (they were supposed to open this year), but now they're opening sometime in 2021. I hope they soft open those coasters as Phantasialand did with FLY

I keep hoping I'll catch some testing when I'm there but so far, haven't caught it in person. Seeing it roll back on the track as they adjust speed was cool. It does seem that they'll do a soft launch well before opening, since that happens fairly often.

I think the vigorous testing is a great idea! With cv-19, you would want the "smoothest" opening for when the crowds return. The trains are simply gorgeous and execute the track with such fluid movement. It looks to be a very smooth coaster with some air time! Can't wait to ride it. The theming looks top notch as well.

I like the decals and details on the train and the scenery looks cool. It's something. Jurassic Park needs more attention at Universal. The foundation of the franchise is based on a theme park. I'd like to really experience that universe the same way I can with Star Wars and Harry Potter. I'm worried about the next Jurassic Park movie using COVID as an excuse for shortcomings too. The franchise doesn't have a great history when it comes to sequels.
