As an interpreter I can say, it is not the ability of the interpreter in this situation but rather than the memory. Players/managers tend to speak long sentences. unless you are taking notes or writing along, it would be difficult to remember everything

you need to get used to it... everything that requires skill needs to be trained... some things you get by doing it over and over again. same with the concentration needed to absorb the conversation and repeat it in another language. it requires proficiency on both languages, something that you only get by using them.

well you paraphrase what they say,but keep the meaning. some translators do not keep the meaning.sometimes people talk using fillers as a translator you get rid of the fillers and just say the important pieces.

I read a French translation of a book once where someone made a fire in their garden and the translator used the word incendie. Wrong!!!! Incendie implies intention to cause harm when the guy was innocently burning off dead wood. Should've been simply feu. I was, as you'll all understand, pretty angry and am STILL awaiting a full apology.

Do you think the interpreter was well-intentioned, that is making a mistake. Or did he intentionally want to mess with Henderson's reputation.
@roycropper6983 жыл бұрын

Perhaps it was easier for Klopp to translate, as Henderson has some distinct British accent which Jürgen is accustomed to.
@IIBLizZII Жыл бұрын
@@a_true_one7696 not really. because the words the interpreter used had nothing to do with Henderson's meaning :D Henderson literally said "it is NOT gonna be easy". (easy means "leicht" in german). And the interpreter just used the word easy (leicht) in terms of: they will approach it lightly. Lightly also means "leicht" in German... but he absolutely failed to listen to Henderson correctly - in which case the german word "leicht" was used in his sentence. And Jurgen knows the German press. This would have led to chaotically wrong headlines with a whole different meaning. From having confidence in a difficult task - to being arrogant over an opponent. Imo there is no real excuse for this interpreter.
@eugenebelford9087 Жыл бұрын
OFC he wasn't "well-intentioned" and it wasn't a mistake by accident. You can clearly hear that the "interpreter"/ "journalist" was from Bavaria. Bavarians only mask themselves as being somewhat strange humans ... in reality, they are something else, something far more sinister than we mere human beings can imagine! 😁

Not fair to the translator. The player droned on way to long and started repeating himself. It isn't easy to turn that around into a translation, when the beginning, middle and end start to run into each other. Also, the translator wasn't finished, so reserve judgment.
