JURONG LAKE GARDENS Lives up to expectations! | Instagram vs reality | Exploring local kopitiam

We went west to Jurong Lake Gardens. The Westies really have a great area of huge natural beauty in Jurong Lake Gardens and it really lived up to our expectations. Often these places so hyped on social media can be a let down, but not here, we were so happy to be able to explore and have the rain hold off for a little while. The Rasau Walk is really the highlight if you want to explore.
In the need of some tasty food, we headed to a big kopitiam in an old cinema at Taman Jurong. The crowd was friendly and rowdy and the menu sure was tasty. It felt good to be out with the locals again and exploring Singapore on our own terms! Where else should we go for some fun local food experiences?

The hawker/coffee shop there is really cool. The vibe is so nice, and the food tasty. Felt at home.

Jurong is situated west of Singapore, so to go to Jurong Lake Gardens is considered far by most Singaporean standards. However, if you go all the way to the end which is Tuas, you will find Raffles Marina, where you will find a privately owned (by Raffles Marina) lighthouse that is still working. Once there, you may feel like you're in the French Riviera region with all the private yachts berthed at the Marina. They also have a Marina Bistro serving Continental/English and local cuisine.

I often went to Jurong Lake for an evening walk. It is such a beautiful park. Unfortunately, the turtle musem has moved out. Yes, indeed, that park is a paradise for kids and their parents. Kids can spend a whole day there.

It’s really cool how much exploring you’re doing and embracing local food too! Makes me wanna get off my ass and walk about Singapore as well x) Have you been to Upper peirce reservoir? There’s a really nice secluded picnic spot next to the water, down a small hill next to the car park. we used to slide down the small hill on cardboard for fun and catch guppies in the water.

They seem to be ripping the Chinese and Japanese garden apart. It always was a nice visit, and when they did lantern festivals it was stunning. I didnt realise Nparks had merged them in with the lake gardens but it doesnt surprise me hugely.

They are completely rebuilding them, some parts remain, but mostly dug up at the moment. 🤞
