This is so awesome. So calming to listen to close to exam time, to be able to learn something on the go, without a book - or to ease myself into studying when I don't feel like it! Very concise, informative and excellently presented. Thank you for sharing!

Ready for an exam! Tnks for helping students around the world. So concise and informative, this Jus Cogens represents a lot of things about the human rights' guarantee and to know how important is to focus in respect the universal law. Kiss from Brazil.

Many thanks for this video! Unfortunatelly, for some crimes and genocides nobody was punished. I'm talking about the genocide of armenian people in 1915 in the Ottoman Empire. And that's great of using it as an example in this video, it has to be promoted for the world to know such a crime

+Егор Чобанян what about genocide of Local azerbaijani people in the our mother land ,Khojali by armenia? (26.02.1992)
@ЕгорЧобанян-й7ф8 жыл бұрын
+elvin hajiyev I see you partly remember the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. As I mentioned it was a war and the Khojaly massacre was an act of revenge for the Sumgait pogrom which occured about the same date in 1988 (the Khojaly massacre was in 1992 but also in the end of february). Why don't you talk about the victims in Sumgait? And it was even before the war, in peacetime unlike the Khojaly massacre. What concerns the armenian genocide, death list counted 1.5 million people in 1915. Do you compare it with about 400 people of victims in Khojaly? And this number of 1.5 million is without deaths of armenian and greek people before 1915 or after during the wars of Ataturk.
@canozmen7 жыл бұрын
Turkish Government -for years- asking Armenians to investigate the events of 1915 together with the international scientists. Their archive is open to researchers and so on. They are saying they have got nothing to hide. What is your response to this. Also you compared number of deaths. In Sumgait 26 Armenians died with 6 Azeri compared to more than 200 Azeri in Khojali. And just so if you don't remember that Turkey fought between 1914 and 1922 with more than 6 countries. Mostly to defend its territory. And Armenians attacked the Turkish soldiers from the back of their front while they were fighting with Russia

+nazia zaman the channel was initially meant to be only video lectures ( me presenting ) but i found it more creative and out of the box to visualize the materials even though its time consuming for me especially with my job but i hope to make at least one video a month

Hi sir! Thank you for this video. But I have a question. Who has the power to declare that a norm has attained the status of jus cogens?
@lexanimata Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, this can be a court decision or a resolution or an international convention or even a soft law like a law professor

Hi! I have a question for my actvity in school . What makes jus cogens superior than erga omnes? .
@lexanimata Жыл бұрын
Jus cogens is the norm itself, like prohibition of torture is jon cogens, while erga omnes is the obligation that all states have an obligation to prevent torture
