Great review Sir. Congratulations on your smoker. I’m in Week 11 of my wait for the 24x60 offset from LSG. Can’t wait

Really excellent video, very informative, and thorough. Congratulations on owning such a beautiful, high quality pit. I have a RecTeq Pellet grill. How do you think the flavour differs from a pellet grill to an offset smoker? Thanks again, very well done video.

Like I said in a previous post, my first pit. I got the best. Easy to learn on. They run like a machine. LSG ain’t cheap and neither is their workmanship. We’ll worth the investment. You’ll pass it down to the grandkids.

Awesome review! Can't beat Lone Star Grillz build quality! Best around hands down! My custom 24x48 single door w/ counter weight with the 1/2 inch fire box, 24" vertical along with the warming oven and all the bells and whistles should be ready any day now! (Order placed on August 4th). Mr. Russ Jones from Smoky Ribs and Justin from Baby Back Maniac were a big part on me going with a LSG! Can't wait to see more of your videos cooking on this beast!

That is a beautiful pit Sandy! If your not already in love with it, you soon will be. My LSG offset is still, hands down my favorite smoker. I heard you mention you were going to get the fire management basket. Even though the fire is easy to control without it, you will most definitely love having the fire management basket, and especially with the fire assist you have. You should also get a logo plate with your logo from LSG. I just drilled and riveted mine in myself. It really makes the smoker pop with that bit of bling LOL. Congrats Sandy on a wonderful pit!

@@JusPiddlinBBQ I also meant to say earlier, that the time of year plays a huge role in how big a split I use. In July and August, it only takes a very small fire to maintain 250 degrees, but in the colder months, I can easily burn longer splits and still maintain good temps.

I got my 1st pit from LSG. It’s a 24x60” offset with the single door and counterweight. This cooks like a machine. I didn’t get a guru Decided to learn the cooker without bells an whistles. One thing I would like to suggest is a drain mod. I took the valve off of the bottom and put a union there. Then a 90 deg. elbow. To that a length of pipe about 16 to 18” then the valve back on that lastly another elbow to direct the water to s bucket. I snugged the union tight enough so I can swing its whole assembly in and out from under the chamber. ( union doesn’t leak). I used black iron material. No reaching under the cooker to move a heavy bucket. Had this pit about 4 years now. Glad I got the best to learn from.

If you get the size you think is right, you’ll wish later you went bigger. I got the 24x60” single door for my first pit. Don’t always use all the space inside , but some of my cooks are for church and parties. Then I’m glad I went big. Wood consumption isn’t much more.

I'm about to upgrade from an Old Country Brazos and I've been seriously looking at this exact same pit, but the tuning plates are the only drawback I'm having. Wouldn't they create more radiant heat so you're cooking from the bottom up versus convection style from top down. Do you have an issue with things getting overcooked on the bottom?
@JusPiddlinBBQ Жыл бұрын
No, the tuning plates do not cover the entirety of the bottom of the pit. If overcooking is a concern, put the meat on the smoke stack end....no tuning plates on that end.
