I've always heard this song since I was very young. I was only able to understand the deep meaning of the lyrics after my first breakup. Suddenly, the words became alive. "I watched you cry Bathed in sunlight By the bathroom door" Meaning he still finds her attractive but he also sees there is something wrong. "You said you wished you did not love me anymore" Small words and lingering courtesies, relationship starting to dye out. "You left your flowers in the backseat of my car" Flower = defloration, loss of virginity. Young couple in love. "The things we said and did have left permanent scars" This is painful.. Every action, good or bad, through our the relationship, leaves a scar ingrained in the memory, overflowing with emotions. "Obsessed depressed at the same time I can't even walk in a straight line I've been lying in the dark no sunshine" Extremely frail moment after breakup. The last glair of sunshine is gone. "She cries This is more than goodbye When I look into your eyes You're not even there" This hit me pretty hard. When I sat next to her to sort out our separate ways, after a torn relationship. It was completely vague, as the moonlight glazed through her eyes, it was like she wasn't even there anymore. "It's just a feeling Just a feeling that I have" I especially realize this part after three years of break up. When you stop to think about the whole past situation. It's all just a feeling that scars your memory, and as time goes by, those scar fades but still shows, becomes tougher but you can still feel it. "I can't believe that it's over" This is when you realize that all of the plans and dreams you built with that person, has suddenly vanished. Now what's left is only the ashes. And you have to reabuild it all over again by your self, carrying a scar. "Oh just confess that you're still mine I roll around in a bed full of tears and I'm still lying in the dark no sunshine" Moments in the middle of the night when those thoughts haunts you. As you flip over and realize, she's no longer there.
