THIS. Man honestly I think I would have loved the ending more if this is how it went. It was just so jarring to me how like you're crying over one character and a minute later they're up and semi okay. I feel like it might have been due to horse's tears but still. The contrast between Horse and Rider and Woman and Elktaur would have been fucking AMAZING. One pair being forced to end through the sheer toxicity of what a good friendship became and a friendship being cut dramatically short.

I honestly would have preferred Rider to die. For a cartoon show that has serious tones and moments, I would have figured a heartfelt death was going to happen and even be appropriate. It would teach kids that happy endings are not always true, that war of any kind has sever consequences even to those not directly involved, and more importantly, it would have thought kids how to handle a major loss. The ending could have gone a little longer with Horse grieving, but eventually with the help of the herd, and maybe some wise words from the mage and even Becky Apples could have helped Horse cope with this loss.

I agree, this scene would have had more impact if she had actually died, I mean I still like the fact that she’s not dead but I also think it would have been better if she had died. Stories like these kind of need something to make the viewer feel more emotions that’s when you know it’s a good story. And I agree that it would have had a lesson to teach. The difference between rider’s “death” and the the nowhere king’s death is that he died as a consequence of his actions. Whereas rider was a good person and hadn’t caused an entire war. The lesson would have been that death can happen to even the best of people, death does not discriminate between the sinners and the saint’s (I know that’s a line from Hamilton, I’m a tad obsessed). I agree that it could of shown the steps that it takes to heal from loosing a loved one and how she’s not alone in her grief, with her friends standing by her side. And then they live happily in rider’s memory.

If it were me, i'd have her faint, making horse think she died and then horse is the one that pushes the general off the cliff as he's busy fighting off some minotaurs. Mistery woman sees that and follows him down the ravine leading to the rest of the finale. Especially if you want to do a fake out death there has to be some sort of payoff that makes the whole scene hold weight. While horse is rushing at the general, we cut to the herd for a few seconds when Wammawink notices Ryder's hand twitching or some other sign of life. Having mistery woman be the one to off the general instead makes Ryder's death have no weight to the plot aside from the option that it is a true death.

It kinda felt like the original idea was for it to be a cliffhanger ending if they were going to do a season 3, that’s why when rider dies it’s exactly at the one hour mark so I guess since the weren’t renewed for a third season they put in the epilogue where rider suddenly changes her hair out of the blue, which probably means that season 3 would have focused more on rider and her experiences in Ventura world like with horse
