Fortunately, not all of us who have attained a certain age need maximum cargo, people, or towing capacity. Some of us want a handsome and reliable midsize SUV that doesn’t look and drive like a box on wheels, with above average performance stats. The CX9 is on my short list when I replace my Lexus NX.

Our ‘16 signature has been great, really no complaints at all and reliability has been perfect. Engine is plenty punchy around town, has just the right amount gears, I really like the low end torque and almost instant boost. Yes 3rd row is small, but we didn’t want a mega mommy mobile. It’s just right for our family of four. Yes at 5 years old its time for a redesign but I don’t have too much envy from its competitors.

Bought my daughter a 2016 CX-5 and wife a 2021 model. Both have been great vehicles. About to buy a 2021 CX-9. The knob actually works great once you use it a time or two. The reviewer also didn't notice the Audio button(music note icon) right next to the center knob. It takes you right to audio choices without having to go through the menus. I own an auto repair shop and the 2016 and up Mazdas are amazingly reliable vehicles.

I like the styling of the CX-9, but I think Mazda needs to up their game a bit when it comes to the things that matter to people (like the towing capacity and maybe the horsepower numbers). This may change when they bring out their new rear wheel drive based architecture in the next year or so....

Much easier to use then touch screen. If your a big person like sideways this would be a tight car for you... Suspension is remarkable. Would like to have a full cabin sunroof... My cx5 reliability has been wonderful. My highlander had the same reliability. Great review sir....

I just bought a 2021 cx5, traded a Lincoln 2020 corsair. I get bored easy and wanted something different. My only complaints are , no pano roof, no start option on the key fob, and the radio. I don't find changing channels an issue. Once you have your presets, you just hit the * button, and select station. It's maybe one more step over a touchscreen. I like not have to lift my arm and reach. Arm never leaves armrest and can control everything.

I bought a new 2021 Mazda CX-5. I believe the CX-50 has the same engine. It burns engine oil from day one and getting progressively worse. I looked up and found a bulletin for my car to be repaired. I took it in and they agreed that my car fell under that bulletin according to the VIN but, that I had to wait for the engine light to come on. By my calculation that won't happen until one oil change after my warranty is up. Don't take a chance and buy Mazda’s. They don't stand by their product unlike Honda. Mazda will do whatever it takes to avoid paying to fix the problem, even when they themselves admit that there's a problem. My advice, stick to Hondas and Toyotas. I’ve had problems with their cars in the past but, they always fixed my warranty issues without question and after that they ran forever. Don’t fall for talking point that Toyota and Mazda are now collaborating and even use the same assembly line. It means nothing. There's a class action lawsuit against them (Haven't responded). I personally have filed with the Mazda, BBB, Attorney General, and a consumer agency. It's been two weeks and nothing. I'm lining up a lawyer as my last resort. Don't go through this hell, buy a Toyota or Honda instead.

I loved my 2019 CX-9 Grand Touring but traded it in after being able to take advantage of the rise in vehicle appreciation and purchased a 2021 Hyundai Palisade Limited. The Palisade was definitely a step up and the 2021 CX-9 is looking a little dated. Your model doesn’t have much more in “new” tech, than my 2019 model had. That’s falling behind Mazda, on a good vehicle.
@maolo763 жыл бұрын
You can beat the handling on the cx-9.
@kennethwalton55823 жыл бұрын
@@maolo76 ………The handling was actually very good on the CX-9. There was little to no body roll and it drove well in all driving conditions, including snow, with good tires. The nice thing about the Palisade that I’ve learned so far, is the fact that even though it’s a little bigger, it’s agility is just as good. We haven’t had a lot of rain but I already suspect that it’s rain handling will be much better, especially since I already upgraded my tires to Michelin CrossClimate2’s, which are far superior than the Hankook’s that came on the vehicle, stock. People really don’t understand the value of good tires and how much of a difference they can make on any vehicle. These CrossClimate2’s are fantastic. I’m fortunate to have been able to change them out so early on. The Palisade has definitely benefited from the better rubber.
@lindblumpickles34073 жыл бұрын
I think the Palisade is so ugly. But, to each to their own. I didn’t think there was too much it had that my ‘21 Carbon Edition doesn’t have. Feels plenty luxury
@kennethwalton55823 жыл бұрын
@@lindblumpickles3407 …..Well, my 2019 CX-9, isn’t much different from the 2021 models. The safety features are more refined in the Palisade including a better center display. Ventilated rear seats and the rear air vents being in the ceiling cool the vehicle off much quicker. Then there’s the Hyundai App, that’s sweet and allows remote start and tracking of the vehicle. As I said, my CX-9 Grand Touring was great but I definitely upgraded when I switched to the Palisade. Enjoy your CX-9, it will serve you well.
@lindblumpickles34073 жыл бұрын
@@kennethwalton5582 the rear ventilated seats are definitely something I’m jealous of but I think the safety features and upgraded infotainment for 2021 are great. As for the rear vents, I have captains chairs with a pass through so they have some air flow from the second rear vents. No big concern. My Mazda app also does the remote start and tracking and such. All in all, it comes down to taste.

If you care about driving, consider it. The Korean brands don't come close. If you're a soccer mom or dad that wants to get from A to B, look elsewhere. We've had a 21 signature for a few weeks. One big gripe that you missed is the mirror settings. On all my Ford's since 2013, power mirror position saves to the seat settings, but not on the Mazda! This is very annoying as I'm 6'2 and my wife is 5'. Of all the reviews i watched, nobody mentions this! Other gripes: no remote start on FOB, dated keyless door locks, I would prefer the base Ford 2.5L turbo in the Explorer as it felt much more powerful. CX9 is about on PAR with the 22 MDX for acceleration per my butt dyno. PS. I love the dial control! The 22 MDX was our second choice, but the touch pad was a deal breaker. And it was over $10K more expensive with less features! No HUD, no cooled seats...but it did have a moon roof and better access to the third row with car seats installed.
